As we all know about Karbassyion and Kenny Cooper, there are a lot of talented US youngsters never get Youth National Team coach's attention. For example, only after Weah Sr. talked with Rongen about Weah Jr. in UAE, we now know anything about him. Same with Elliot. So here is what I just read accidently in the Youth Soccer thread, here is a quato from one BS poster: "My son spent two years playing in Brazil. We moved there after he was recruited at the age of 14. His contract expired this fall. FIFA changed the rules and now you have to be 18th for international contracts. A starting center mid on the Brazilian U-17 National team couldn't break into the U-20's. And that spot was held by my son a U-17 American. They could not understand why he wasn't in Finland." So who is this kid? Why MLS didn't try to get him? Here is the list of Brazil U-17 that won the Cup in Finland that are midfielders: Junior (Vasco da Gama) Jonathan (Cruzeiro) Arouca (Fluminense) Ederson (RS Futebol Clube) Arthur (Sao Paulo) Felipe (Flamengo) Juliano (Fluminense)
I don't think he's saying his son played for the Brazil U-17s, I think he's saying that a Brazilian U-17 player couldn't unseat his son on their club team's U-20 squad. Or maybe I'm way off.
I think some posters already know who this kid is. The father doesn't want to give out the name--maybe doesn't want to piss off someone in USSF for kid's benifit. What I suspect that the Brazilian center midfielder in the question maybe the #10 player Ederson (RS Futebol Clube) who signed with Porto after Finland. RS Futebol Clube ran an operation in USA and brought down the kids (for a fee) for short term training and if they like anyone than offering them a contract. I could be wrong, but I remembered I did read something like that with two US kids being in their teams. Here is what Ederson did against USA (Adu and Co.): Only 1-0 up and six minutes into the second half in Turku, Brazil were coming under heavy pressure from Freddy Adu and his American mates. And just as it looked like the South Americans were about to concede a crucial equaliser, brilliant midfielder Ederson collected the ball on the left side of the box, stepped over once, twice, and a third time before picking up his head and chipping delicately over Phil Marfuggi to sink the States.
I recall two US boys apparently playing in Brazil, a Michael Banner of DC and some Zach Archer guy who's at Corinthians, I think. Banner, IIRC, was with that paid program, along with another kid. Maybe one of them?
not to get off course here,,,,but I remember reading about a keeper who was like 15 years old and was 6-1 and went to south america for a trial with some team. The kid himself was posting on bigsoccer. I think he was from the DC area. this was like a year or two ago....anyone know what came of him?
OK, I think I figured this out. I believe this guy is Zach Archer's dad. I base that on the following post from a thread last October: So what do you guys think? I think this is the kid. The father was talking about how his kid was starting over one of the Brazilian U17s on the U20 club team...not that his son played for the Brazilian U17 team.....OK, I think I see what you are trying to say. You're trying to point out which Brazilian U17 was sitting on the bench behind the American kid... From all information that I have seen, this kid is that Zack Archer kid...
Thank you guys to help out. Jay Denny who is trying to make U-20 rosters talked about his failed try to make the U-17 WYC last time. One of the reason is that the establishment wants to push for guys already there. I can feel same thing here, the MLS is trying to use WYC to showcase MLS talents. So a young kid who plays in overseas may not get the chance on the youth team unless you're in "Can't Miss" category. For example, the Michael Banner kid is a right side midfielder that we don't have many.
Well, I'd just like to know where this Zach Archer kid is playing now, if he is in fact the one we are talking about (and I believe he is). If Usafan is his dad, as it appears, then there he had post last month in which he talked about going to the USA-Denmark game in LA. So maybe they live there. But this would be really easy to figure out if the Usafan would just let us all know. And that would only help his son, who appears not to be with a pro club at the moment, despite (according to him) tearing up the reserves and U20s for Corinthians at the age of 16.
Send him a PM...the evidence does lead to this Archer kid. It's a damn shame that FIFA rules prevented him from signing, but I guess that does protect a lot of other kids. If he's an 86 then he'll be eligible to sign with a team this year, no? Sounds like another potential central mid with skills and shockingly(size).

If any of you speak Portugese you can work your way throgh the SC Corinthians website and look for a contact for their youth coaches. If he really is this good he'll probably stick in the coaches memory and there would be a good chance that they would know the reason he left the club and perhaps where he is now.

Well, I guess Carlos Elliot failed to impress the Fire coaching staff since his trial is now over with the Chicago club and they didn't make him an offer.
it's not that he didn't impress, he is coming off shoulder surgery and couldn't be in most of the drills
I know he was coming off an injury, but where did you get your info about him not being able to participate in most of the drills?
