Christian Vieri finally lost it with the Italian media today at a press conference. Tired of negative reporting, he told them he was more man then all of them put together and swore not to talk to them anymore. http://www.channel4.com/sport/football_italia/jun20i.html For those of you that understand Italian, you can watch the outburst here: http://www.raisport.rai.it/raiSportSezioneIndex/0,5785,_78_124_7642,00.html

He's mad because the Gazzetta dello Sport wrote that Buffon was pissed at him for making such a lame effort to block Ibrahimovic's goal. He said they could criticize his play, but this was a personal attack affecting his relationship with Buffon. Personal attacks are wrong, he said. He then proceeded to personally attack every journalist in the room...
Actually, Gazzetta dello Sport reported that Vieri & Buffon had an "exchange" in the tunnel after the match. Vieri asked Buffon where the hell he was on the goal and Buffon responded that Vieri shouldn't be one to talk considering he can't score a goal any more! Funny, but both are corrent in the critiques! Although I would state that Buffon's mistake would be irrelevent if Vieri could have put away one of his many chances!
It is ridiculous that Vieri would question the positioning of the best goalkeeper in the world. Buffon is one of the few players that has been playing to their ability level this tourney.
Before that goal, I'd say Buffon was our MVP (and probably still is condidering he saved us from losing to Denmark). Having rewatched the Sweden game last night, though, he was unquestionably bad on that goal. As a keepr, you don;t leave your line unless you get the ball, period! He came out, and was left in no-man's land, and that was his fault. I still think that we should have been up 2 or 3 nil at that point, so I'm not willing to blame him for the tie.
Did you read or hear any of the interviews with Vieri he is pissed off because this sort of information is incorrect. He did not question the positioning of Buffon. Both have denied there ever was an argument and I tend to believe an extremley angry Vieri and disappointed Buffon more than a bunch of greasy press pass morons, desperate for a story. They are always trying to cause division in the team. Vieri is right he is more of a man than all of them and they really cant look at themselves in the mirror because they have no conscience. Vieri is too awesome when he is telling of the press. I just hope he can somehow use this rage against the Bulgarians if he manages to take to the pitch.
The Italian press man said that Buffon & Vieri and their families sat together for dinner AFTER the match and so this shows nothing happened. Let's see, the game started at 7:45 Pm local time and finished at 9:30 PM local time. Let's estimate an hour to get showered have the post-game press conference etc., that brings us to 10:30 PM. Another 30 minutes to get out of the stadium and seated in a restaurant (or at the team hotel) and you're telling me that the Italian team players are eating dinner at 11 PM on a game-night!! If this is true it's absurd, can someone verify if this happens. I know the chef from the Somerset Hills Hilton in NJ where Italy stayed during the 94 WC and he said that they had a very strict dietary regimen for the tournament, both in terms of what they ate as well as when they ate. Maybe Trap is much more lax with this, but I find it weird that they would be allowed to be out eating at such a late hour during an important tournment where qualification to the next round is hanging by a thread. This stinks as a lye fabricated for a positive spin!
More often than not, the only thing in these sports dailies that's true is the date printed. The other stories, well, in the words of Denzel Washington in Training Day, a newsaper is 90% bull********** but it's entertaining.
