The worst tax of all

    Problem is, for a statistically significantnumber of folks, those sentiments are prefectly, undeniably "American."

    In many ways, we could exist as separate nations; as few as two, as many as, on the major issues, 13 or 15. Getting thee wouldn't be just half the battle, though, it'd be the WHOLE battle. Not gonna happen.

    but I'd love to see Wintips and NYfutbolfan and some others forge a nation out of just those who thought exactly as they do. Don't tell them that it could never be forged, do to those very beliefs...

    Mel, I figured you would be a big proponent of multiple streams of thought and multiple styles of education. I didn't think that you would be someone who believed in lockstep education.

    I thought you celebrated diversity? Why not on this issue?

    We've had this at least twice, and both times it didn't work out, at least here. Makes me wonder what a mistake we made in 1845.....

    Property tax should be doubled on $10 million and up houses and abolished for the rest.

    Triple their property tax then, and at the same time give them tax deductions for hiring landscapers and maids and masseurs.
