I defy anyone to name a bigger 'ball hog' in international football history than Giorgio Chinaglia during his NY Cosmos days...

The Boavista ballboys and staff................until Celtic scored last night.
Then they wanted to play with 2/3/4/ balls which miraculously reappeared.

You're only a ball-hog if you don't do anything with it.

Ginola had good reason to have most of the ball, the others Spurs players were sh!t.

Bill Nicholson once remarked that Danny Blanchflower would touch the ball more than any other two players combined. Given what Blancflower could do with it though it was only a pity he didn't touch it more.

I would say Allen Shearer or Inzaghi but I guess you could say Allen Shearer earned the right become a ball hog.

It doesent matter if you do anything or not. If your one of those players that are reluctant to pass the ball even when its completly necessary you are considered a ball hog. It doesent matter if you do good or bad with it. But not all Ball hogs are bad, there have been many Great Ball hogs in Sport. Look at Jordan.

a stupid question after another, what makes you think i don't know what a ball-hog is.

you stated shearer was a ball hog and that's laughable, so i ask the question....do you even know what a ball hog is?

is that all you're gonna say in your defence? and i don't know whether you're mentally inept or just plain ignorant but that post pretty much says everything.

i'm contributing to his thread, you're just dropping names of footballers you know nothing about.

Shearer a ball hog, that's a first...

LOL you're still posting but not saying anything to counter my point. You dont belong in this forum. World Rivalries is Thatta way!

I consider shearer a ball hog because often keeps the ball or takes a shot when the right thing to do in the given situation would be to pass the ball to a better positioned team mate. In the Arsenal game on sunday there was an oppurtunity when shearer had the ball and Boyer was right infront of a pratically open net, instead of of doing the right thing by squaring it, he opted for the shot. The commentaters even made light of the fact that shearer should have passed but never had the intention of doing so. The same can be said about inzaghi. However, I said shearer earned the right to be a ball hog because of his scoring record.

you just defined a striker. so by your logic all strikers are ball hogs? *snicker*

^ what to do when you have no comeback and effectively lost the arguement. *double snicker*.

    ;)

    You're and Idiot.

    Comeback? Arguement?

You have no arguement, you havent stated any facts or even added to this thread in any way. All you did was post your usual one liner nonsence.

Rivaldo had a great tendancy to ballhog but when he was doing it he honestly had a right to :p

Oh man this is a beauty, you really have lost the plot.

Your lesson for tonight is to find out the definition of both a Striker and a Ball-Hog.

One-liners? I dissect your post in as little as few words, when you finish your homework child and have a decent backup for your choices then you can talk.

My mother once met someone (a European man) who described Pele as a ballhog. Shows you how subjective the term is.

A classic MT post. Countless times have I seen THAT be your reply when you have nothing logical to counter with.

You Idiot, are you saying now that only midfielders can be ball hogs? (LOL)

My question is to the general public, you've played the sport before. You know theres that guy who will hardly ever pass the ball. The guy you constantly ask "WTF were you thinking when you didnt pass it". THAT is a Ball Hog. And you could consider Shearer one of those types of players, but he is not a ball hog in a bad way. He's a ball hog in a good way, Like Jordan in Basketball.

Does Ball Hog mean something different in England?
