I'm sad to say that I received word recently that Sam Hesse (corporate0000 on BigSoccer) passed away recently. You probably don't know him from BS...he was a lurker and rarely posted...but you may know him from 213 and from the tailgates. He was a TA member and around since game 1...making the games whenever he could. I'm still not certain of the exact details but he apparently passed away last night/early this morning as a result of an unexpected brain aneurysm which is even more heart breaking considering his young age. I don't have much in the way of details though really.

Honestly, I just found out and I'm still in shock..as if it isn't actually true. I never knew Sam before the Dynamo came to town. Like so many of us in TA/EB the Dynamo introduced us to one another, yet I still considered him my friend and enjoyed the times we hung out together at the game or on a random Saturday night. He was an incredible person, fun to be around and he will be missed by many including me. My thoughts and prayers go out to his family during this difficult time.

For those that are interested, I've been told that the funeral is Thursday at 4 at St. Thomas Episcopal School near Meyerland. If anyone hears of any more details, please post them here.

I'm not much of a picture taker so I don't but someone probably does. If I get one (or if anyone reading this has one), I'll post it.

That's sad-we should do something as the TA to remember him at the next tailgate/game-same for Nobious' friend and tailgate attender.

I just talked with Sam's brother, Curt. There will be a viewing on Wednesday night and, as Jason mentioned above, the funeral will be on Thursday afternoon.

Visitation will be at the funeral home on Wednesday, 5:00 pm - 7:00 pm; it's located on Kirby, between Richmond and Alabama -- Settegast-Kopf Funeral Home, 3320 Kirby Dr., (713) 526-2411.

Thursday 4:00 pm -- the funeral is at St. Thomas Episcopal Church, 4900 Jackwood St. - in the Meyerland shopping center area.

Curt says that the family doesn't need anything, but he wanted Sam's friends in the Texian Army to know.

I'm completely stunned. Jason already said the important things in the first post. All I can do is agree.

After a few minutes to gather myself and stop crying, I knew this man, It isn't fair for him to to be gone so young. He had his whole life ahead of him. I am just devastated.
Partly, because of my own medical issues and having gone through radiation therapy to reduce such a medical condition.
I am grateful to be alive today to enjoy soccer in Houston, my family, my extended family known as the Texian Army. The lesson for me here folks, is to enjoy your whole life without reservation and be yourself,
Sam will be missed by me and I will print a picture of him. I will keep it on my wall as a reminder of how lucky I am to have known him .God be with you Sam, my brother. my friend.:(

I'm still trying to wrap my head around it. Like Jason said, it's almost like it didn't, or couldn't have happened. He was a good friend and will be missed so much. I can't even say anything now, it's all so.. Unbelievable. I wish I was down there to offer my condolences.

Rest in peace Sam. You will be missed.

Damn... I remember when he and the rest of the gang got crazy and jumped like loons @ the Mezz when Zolofan dropped his glasses :(. He seemed a little quiet but not at those Dynamo moments. I wish I could have been friends with him longer, but my memory of him being a great Dynamo supporter will live on.

R.I.P. Sam. I'll see you on the other side. Forever Orange!

I'm shattered, completely shattered. As serio said, Sam was right there w/the rest of us at the Mezz watching the Pachuca second leg match just over three wks ago.

Here's a pic I took after the 1836 naming ceremony at Lanier Middle School, 1/25/06 - I remember Yanks posting, "oh look, it's corporate0000 with hair!"

L to R - Sam, Anderson, fordfjord, James Martin of the FO -

Just heard. Got a phone call from a friend that works with his mom. They are all just devastated.

    RIP SAM

In the short time I got to know him, I considered Sam a great friend. He was there from Game 1.

    Unbelievable.

    Sam.

Isabel and I miss you already.

For those who didn't know him he was a cool mutha********er. He was my smoking partner and i use to like to bum cigarettes off him because he always bought the best (dunhills, 555s).

He grew up in Meyerland and went to college in England. He once told me attending EPL matches and the pub culture seal the deal for him as far as his love for soccer. Sam had the greatest, corniest jokes of all times. Trust me they were bad, but the way he told them made me laugh.

    Sam was 23 years old.

The guy had an awesome sense of humor. One of the few people who loved sarcasm as much as I do. I just realized that I called him Saturday night to watch the Rockets play at the Mezz but I didn't get in touch with him. I really wish I had now.

Indeed, a heartbreaking lost...I recall seeing him at many of the Dynamo Matches as well at the Mezz. The Soccer world has lost a passionate fan, Sam will be deeply missed!

My thoughts and prayers are with his family, friends and all those who are affected by his lost.

    - Super Dynamo

Sam will have the best view of the matches from Above! Cheers mi amigo!

That's impossible. We were joking and having a good time together at the Mezz in the US/Mexico game. That's a cool dude right there. We bought each other beers that night and were just talking away about the upcoming season and our past travels.

I wish his family the best, and him a peaceful resting. Just a fun person to be around.

Never ever good to lose a soccer fan in America. Maybe black wrist bands at the next home game with his initials would be a nice tribute?

I had the privilage to call Sam my friend. I met him in 2002 at university in Canterbury in the UK. I have so many great memories of him:- drinking martinis, watching football (soccer to you guys), really bad jokes, late nights hanging out in a friends house, partys, intense, deep and drunken discussions about politics, sport, films, all the usual stuff.

His many friends in the UK are trying to come to terms with the sudden loss of a really good man and friend.

The last time I saw him was this last winter when he told me all about the Texian Army and how hardcore you guys are. It made me want to come over and experience it for myself. I hope to do it one day when finances allow and meet some of you.

Until then I'd ask you to join me in a martini and raise a glass to my friend Sam.
