I think the additional allowed substitutions worked against us. We've got a fit squad and tend to hit teams late on, when they're tiring. Bring on Traore after Jota or Neto has run your fullback ragged and it causes all sorts of problems. If you can simply freshen up half of the lineup with subs then it helps nullify that threat. Conversely, our lack of squad depth meant that we couldn't make as many changes without affecting the quality of the side.

There are rumours that Wolves are close to signing Paulinho from Braga for €25m. Could be nonsense (maybe a ploy to get Lazio to improve their offer?).

There are rumours that Fabio Silva is poised to sign for Wolves for a club record €40m fee.

Man can barely get minutes in one of the worst Porto teams, yet goes for 40+.

Absolutely reeks of some greasy Jorge Mendes play. No way Porto is seeing all that 40mil.

Well, that is definitely the intention. I’m not sure too many players would be brought in with the idea of supplanting Mane-Firmino-Salah, at least for a coupe of years yet anyway. Liverpool have been getting stretched squad wise trying to compete in multiple competitions and bench depth is exactly what they need. Jota, agreeing to this move, knows full well that his role at LFC will be much different and far more limited than it was at Wolves, for the time being.

So, have any of you seen the new Wolves third kit? I'm just trying to remember what it reminds me of... ;)

Villa is claret so i doubt there’d be a problem, I just love the fact they are fully embracing the Portugal FC tag

It's actually proving to be rather popular. Fans of other teams mock Wolves for signing so many Portuguese players. We see it as a positive thing and this shirt just emphasises that.

I've seen a couple of people suggesting putting "Mendes" on the back if theirs, which is taking things a little too far.

Huge Fail when starting 6 Portuguese and subbing in 2 more. That was bad. Although much of the problems were created by Saiss (and Coady) who had nightmares of a defensive game (and the 2nd goal should have been a Wolves free kick) at the end of the day they created nothing and allowed West Ham to take advantage of many defensive mistakes.

But really Saiss should be benched after this performance.

The late finish to the Europa League hasn't helped us as we've had no pre-season to prepare. I feared the worse against Sheffield United for that very reason, but we won that one. I think it may take a few games to get back on form, but I think the squad is stronger than last season.

Semedo is an upgrade on Doherty, and Podence looks sharper than Jota. We've added Marçal, who can take the load off Vinagre (covering left wing back) and cover central defence, plus a load of talented youngsters.

I don't see us knocking on the door of the top six this season, but Fosun are thinking long term.

Really unfortunate injury early in the game vs Arsenal to Jimenez after a brutal clashing of heads with David Luiz sees young boy Silva being given his first real opportunity for virtually a full game. Will be watching intently.

Really concerning for Jimenez though as he was was down, out cold for more than 10 minutes.

Neto and Podence scored for wolves.
Neto is a warrior from Viana. A lot of my northern buddies in Toronto are from Viana, they say he is a good person from a noble northern family.
