I watched and was thinking McKennie was invisible and then remembered he didn't start. That sidewinder was great but the pass to Weah was picture perfect too. Those long switches are becoming a real strength of his.

Not sure even Schalke played him there. So what position is left that he hasn't played? Keeper? I think he'd be decent there except at the moment he might struggle because of whatever's wrong with his shoulder. Come to think of it when's the last time he did one of those super long throw-ins?
Iconic USMNT quote right there. Noting that, aside from the goal, Wes had what I will generously categorize as a hockey assist on the game-winner as well. Highlights here:
Man, Leeds fans and a certain anti-McKennie poster on here must be twisting themselves in knots right now.
McKennie sucks and has no business being anywhere near the USMNT. Just ask.....well you know who......lol.
Calling my Weston 2026 starting center back shot now. 1) he is duct tape 2) none of trusty, ccv, MRob, or Richards will be good enough to unseat Ream (though McKenzie might be but that only means team is benched) 3) gets our best players in the field and eliminates any Reyna, Musuh, adams questions
I'll add another one to your list - McKennie is excellent - borderline elite - in the air. This would certainly be a way to put him in a position to utilize one of his best skills. Do I really know if it would work? No clue, but I do have the Lou Brown/Major League "That's a hell of an idea!" line running through my head reading your post.
I doubt he'll do any of those long throw-ins until his shoulder is medically cleared to do them. (At the very least, he'll need to be out of the shoulder brace before he can try.)
This is a big opportunity for Tillman. He's been used by PSV on long throw-ins into the box. I could see him staking a claim as our long throw-in specialist (until McKennie gets medical clearance to resume).
I didn't say it doesn't? Just wondering why we're not seeing McKennie scoring from headers like we used to...
I suspect you're right in that the shoulder is affecting him. He still soldiers on. He never has a chance to have surgery and fully recover.
A reminder that Weston was not considered a can't miss prospect. It sometimes takes a very keen eye to spot talent. Elgert led discussions with the American midfielder. "He was already very extroverted at that time," the coach recalled with a smile. However, it was a challenge to convince the club's management of the transfer: "Weston was a non-traditional signing. Although he was free of transfer fees, Oliver and I had to push through against internal resistance." These efforts would prove worthwhile. This transfer ultimately turned out to be extremely lucrative, bringing FC Schalke €25 million. In September 2020, the duo of Elgert and Ruhnert could feel vindicated: "We brought him in for free from Dallas. And this transfer paid off both on the sporting side and financially." Juventus Turin initially loaned McKennie for a year for a fee of €4.5 million, before the Italian top club transferred €21.9 million back to Gelsenkirchen. https://www.footboom1.com/en/news/f...egend-reveals-the-curious-signing-of-mckennie
By having Wes being able to play LB, we no longer have to spend a roster spot for a mediocre backup LB.
wes is among the best choices to play any of 7 positions, so thats at least 6 roster spots freed up right there... bs math ftw!
IN ALL SERIOUSNESS, Its time for Weston Mckennie to change his name to Westonbinho. Then he will get that $50 Million contract.
