I am a Dutch, but like the diversity the US team seems to represent. I have noticed that there are a number of excellent African Americans that could fight for a potential spot on the 06 team. What would the best line-up be of all black American players?

    I would to say:

    ----------Thornton/Howard-------------
    --Sanneh--Pope--Onyewewuoo---Gibbs
    -Cobi----------JC Elliott---------Beasley
    --------------Adu-----------------------
    ---Buddle (or Cunnigham)--E Johnson----

I am not trying to think about race first, but I find it interesting, that likely, an all-black team would beat either an all-white or all-hispanic USNT. Other than central midfield, the blacks are strong at every position. Please excuse my poor english.

    welcome to the boards.

i also noticed this and also find it interesting.

in a few years, the US will be able to field a good all black, all white, and all hispanic team :D

Actually, it is his story after reading that I registered to this website. He plays in the lower divisions of Italy, I read about in Yanks Abroad board. I just made lineup of players through a quick browsing of the US board, but maybe there are better option, maybe Ernie Stewart or some other I do not know.

He's the man, the myth, and the legend. He's currently an amateur trialist in italy.

I noticed it tonight actually too. That's an interesting lineup and shouldn't be nervouse to talk about it. For a sport that has a large reputation for being Lilly White Surburbanite game, we certainly have a lot of African-Americans on our national team. Lots of diversity on the squad and I think that bodes well for Amreican soccer.

Fully agree with the Maxim-1 .. think about how much talent there would be if we're bringing players from all different nationalities and races, all born in the USA. And then think of all those fans and butts in seats at MLS games.

One world, one sport, one game or whatever that cool commercial was last year .. can't remember.

This thread has popped up a couple of times already, and each time shut down quickly. What is the point, for Christ's sake?

They're American players. Who gives a rat's ass what they look like?

Exactly. Maybe this is a Dutch thing, but I think it is a sign of being comfortable with all people that you can matter-of-factly debates lineups as this, as if you are debates East vs. West, or guys with long hair versus guys with short hair, or a tall players versus short players.

I think Holland, France, and the USA are the three countires in the world that can do such a lineup, I think is a testament to each of our three societies.

Yes, they shut down this? Guilt of being racist somehow? It is a shame for your people then if you can't talk about obvious characterishtics. Luckily America didn't do something bad to all left-footed people hundreds of years ago, or it would be difficult to talk about football.

After thinking a bit more I'm going to change my lineup by bringing in the Norwegians and going with a 4-3-3.

    ------------------------Howard--------------
    --------------Russell--Pope--Onyewu--Gibbs--
    -that dude @ Blackburn--Rico Clark---Beasley
    ---------------Buddle---West------Johnson----

    Bench:
    Adu
    Thornton
    Stewart
    Sanneh

I hope someone reads this before the jackbooted mods shut down the thread...did anyone else notice that the "white" team is ALL Euro-based players except Landon and Mullan, and Landon will be gone soon. You could put Convey on the right and Lewis on the left and be all Euro.

I don't know what it means, but it's really, really interesting.

The black team's foreign contingent is just Beasley, Howard, Russell (probably better at RB than Sanneh, given Russell's credentials, but I haven't seen him) and Onyewu.

You are not thinking hard enough... :p

    ---------------------J. Walker-----------
    --Cherundolo--D. Hernandez--C. Bocanegra--Burciaga Jr.
    ----------------------Armas-------------------------
    -Mastroeni------------Reyna------------Corrales-----
    -------------Memo G.------A. Alvarez-----

NOTE: Walker might as well be Latino. :D Cherundolo is from California, short, and eats a lot of Mexican food, so I'm claiming him.

Less interesting when you consider that Gibbs and Stewart were Euros and now play in MLS. I sort of see what you're getting at in terms of how foreign clubs may view American players, but I don't thiink it's particularly relevant.
