He was thinking experience in top competitions (World Cup, Champions League, Eredivisie, etc.). I understand it, but I personally would've gone with experience in the left back position. Also, Beasley obviously isn't the same player he once was, while Morrow is in his prime.

Totally agree with you, with 3 teams in the league their Nats should get better, i hope to see Canada in the WC at some point.

I think the problem was more Bob Bradley than DaMarcus Beasley. Bradley liked hard-charging wingback play, which often left his Left Back exposed. That's why he idolized Bornstein and Pearce. Beasley could play Left Back but like all Bradley teams he often was stuck out of position and the effect was drastically magnified by his inexperience in the position. In contrast, JK seems to play his wingbacks as defensive tools first and foremost. We may not play up to our strengths with JK coaching, but we don't see the frequent heartstopping moments where the left back is completely drawn out of position and isolated on the wrong foot, which as a staple of Bob Bradley's USA.

Beasley uses his immense mobility to mark his man, and not to track back when caught upfield because the wingback attack broke down. Mobility is not raw speed, which is why the very mobile Beasley fits much better into JK's designs than with Bob Bradley.

Their teams seem to be going hard into youth development, so I think they'll be able to drag the CSA and co kicking and screaming into player progress with time.

the problem is that we hear that all the time. I really hoped to see Canada pick it up by now, but the rest of CONCACAF seems to pass them by.
ps-CSA make our Fed look like Einsteins and Curies put together!

People need to give the development academy's time. The first generation of kids that played a full 4 years in in the DA just turned 20. When this first generation hits their prime, I think we'll see the results.

they actually have good players already. They just can never get their act together.
