THE UN IS ONCE AGAIN SHOWING HOW CORRUPT IT IS in it's dealings with Iraq. It's clear that these countries are under tremendous pressure to prevent a freely elected government from breaking out in Iraq. The American left puts such faith in this band of corrupt thieves and dictators that it defies logic. It was to avoid the American "lepers" that the Security Council voted seven weeks ago to create a special international force to protect the U.N. mission in Iraq. So far, however, not a single country has offered to join. And the French, Germans and Russians (who had most opposed the use of U.S. troops for the purpose) are not even prepared to contribute money for such a force. Worse still, they are pressuring other countries not to offer troops
Bill, without the great passion for peace at the UN there would be dictators in the middle east and genocide in Africa. Wait a minute.
I don't think very many people understand what the UN really is. Here's an organization that currently has Syria, a brutal dictatorship, as Chair of the Human Rights Commission. An organization that treats every thuggishly crude tinpot thief and murderer who manages to slaughter his way to power so he can steal a country blind and stays at the top by employing other thugs to terrorize the people as being essentially good and moral. It's run by the type of careerist, corrupt thieves that run the bureaucracy in all but a very few countries, and has virtually no interest in anything outside of expanding the reach and power of their self-perpetuating authority. If the US Media had any interest in reporting actual news, as opposed to the role that they've adopted of trying to manipulate the American political system, they'd be all over the "Oil-for-Palaces" scandal, which reaches into Kofi Annan's own family and across the globe as eager politicians pocketed billions of dollars. The UN official in charge of the program is on permanent paid leave on an island and can't be deposed. Has been since January when this first broke. The guy who sent him there and who refuses to bring him back? Kofi Annan. And this is the outfit the left thinks we should turn US foreign policy over to.
I do. The UN is good at two things: Having paid vacations (er) meetings at 5 star resorts. Generating reports. Lots of reports. With lots of words. Briefly touched on previously by Ted C. et. al., here's what $3.3bil can buy. A year in Iraq
