Also, we should all note and applaud and aspire to the bravery being shown in Minneapolis. Both for the folks ICE is going after, all the POCs there, and also their allies, who just as easily could contribute mere thoughts and prayers.

Nazis didn't start with death camps. Nazis were Nazis even before they had death camps and committed genocide.

I know what you’re trying to say here, but in, say, 1937, I don’t think people saw Hitler as more dangerous than Franco or Mussolini. If people were seeing a distinction in Hitler’s capacity for evil (as opposed to Germany’s capabilities compared to Italy and Spain) I’m not aware of it, but as always, I’m willing to be educated.

I dunno about 1937 but by 1938 TIME knew it:

By the time the US entered the war the Allied Leadership knew what was going on. Fwiu, radio broadcasts were relatively on point about the crimes, but most took it as exaggerated after the outlandish propaganda during WWI.

This is to say nothing of the many American businesses doing work with the Nazis to build up their infrastructure to carry out the genocides in the 30s, and even during the war.

I'm confused. It was reported how evil a man he was before the war broke out. Radio broadcasts talked often about his evil deeds, even if some thought it propaganda.

How does that not answer your question? People knew. Journalists, business leaders, generals, admirals, top politicians.....people knew the dude was missing all his crayons from the box and substituted pure evil to fill the gaping hole where his soul was. They also knew what Germany could do (and was doing).

    What am I missing?

Read it like you don’t know about the Holocaust. In that context, “democratic, freedom loving world” is about invasions of neighbors, not genocide,

The Holocaust wasn't a secret (per se). What do you think they were talking about in the halls of power, or over the radio and newspaper? Sure, the average Dick, Jane, and Spot didn't understand the scale but his evil deeds were reported on. He was an a***** before the Germans bombed Pearl Harbor (and it wasn't over then!).

I'm still confused by your argument.

I already told you. This was less than 20 years since WW I. That’s what they were talking about.

If you think they were talking about a genocide, about the Holocaust, in 1938, you need to brush up on the order of events.

Depends how you factor in the white supremacy which has typically been a feature of fascism and now Trumpism. Like p*rn - you know it when you see it.

That's bullshit. If I'm protesting peacefully and someone else in the protest does a crime, the government does not get to take away my right to protest peacefully.

Anyways, here's one of my signs for the Free America Walkout protest tomorrow - outside Mark Amodei's (R-NV) Reno office. Amodei (last syllable rhymes with "hey" and "today", hence the use of those words) is the only Republican congressional representative in Nevada, and as one of his constituents, I have been asking him for months if he is cool with the chaos and corruption and lawlessness of the Trump administration, and at what point he might actually do something about it. Weirdly, his office does not respond to me any more.

So if one person throws a punch, everyone else gets their First Amendment rights curtailed? That's some interesting "logic" there.

I hope you mean that specific protest, and not all protest.

As for everyone attacking your post, I think THEY think you mean all protest.

The people who were throwing water balloons at or otherwise assaulting the right wing influencer and his handful of supporters in Minneapolis last weekend should face consequences for their actions. If the police can't identify and arrest the individual perpetrators, they don't get to shut down the protest for everyone else - the vast majority of protesters who were NOT committing crimes should still be allowed to peacefully protest. Boston's statement wasn't specific - I will be protesting tomorrow, in Reno, not Minneapolis - peacefully - and my right to do so should not be limited because of what someone else does.

No true Scotsman fallacy. They are Christians, they just don't follow what Jesus taught.
