For those interested, Lawfare is putting out a 3 part series on immigration/deportation.

I’m sure some of the people who joined ICE pre Trump got into it for the right reasons. And some got into it because it’s a job, and that’s as far as their ideology goes. When ICE gets dismantled and replaced with a non Nazi agency, they should be allowed to apply for jobs, and be hired after extremely thorough vetting.

Anyone joining ICE now is scum. Do not pass go, do not collect $200. They should be outcasts.

I’m not sure the vetting would be that difficult. Did you apply before or after Jan 20, 2025. Perhaps the cut off date should be before or after the 2024 election. All of those people should be fired immediately. They knew what they were getting into.

the bright side….with all of the prisons these assholes have built….we’ll have plenty of space for them.

IIRC, somebody wrote a book on how average people would do this because they just fell in line. Or something like that. This person was a psychologist, I think, and interviewed Nazis post Nuremberg to understand why they did what they did.

You’re giving a free pass to everyone who joined before Jan 20 2025. I’m not willing to do that.

Yeah, blacklisting everyone who joined Trump’s ICE is a given.

Wow. I would have thought that they had more than even the barest of pretexts to make Abrego-Garcia such a flashpoint. They have less than nothing.

How closely have you been following this? I only ask that as from the legal pods I listen to, they've been saying this exact thing as soon as the accusation of transporting children or gangs or something like that came up in something like March. And because of that - that they have no evidence - this is now falling under the vindictive prosecution umbrella, though I think it is in Tennessee. Not quite the same as J Comey or James, but still vindictive.

I thought with the domestic violence stuff, that there may have been some hiccup/non compliance in his quest for residency.

Also insane that he said he’d relocate to Costa Rica, Costa Rica is totally cool taking him, but the US says they can only send him to somewhere in the Sahel.

The DV stuff seems to be a red herring.

Yeah, that was weird. Everybody was in agreement that he could go to Costa Rica, but somehow that was not good enough for DHS/DOJ.

I’ve heard of cases where really minor offenses have been grounds to stall/stop immigration proceedings. I thought there could be at least something petty and stupid, but there isn’t even that!
    Not cruel enough.

Ken Dalinian said that MTG spoke after Rep. Magaziner and extolled Trump's deportation program

She sucks. Always has and always will.
