I have made the argument before that none of these low-level guys will ever face any consequences should the Dems get back into power. I am even convinced they won't go after leadership to the extent that is clearly necessary.

IMHO the entire organization will be so tainted by Trumpism that the sane thing to do would be abolishing it and starting fresh with a new agency.
I also made the point earlier that a lot of these folks will not have been hired during the Trump years, so you can't put all of this entirely on Trump. They might have been fully unleashed under Trump, but there were already a lot of garbage individuals within that agency long before this administration assumed power.
A person with basic human decency and the ability for even a morsel of empathy would not smash a car window onto a baby, regardless of who is president.

There will be personnel records. You could start with 1)anyone who joined after Jan 21 2025, and 2)anyone responsible for hiring post Jan 21, 2025. And I imagine there will be records of everything. But I agree…pretty much anyone who hasn’t already resigned by now needs to be fired. And pensions need to be cut. And prosecutions must happen.

I got one "the niqqers are taking over" from an insured who apparently didn't hear my name, and once ordered a pizza and had to hear the cashier's astonishment when I walked in and she realized I was Black.

I'm like, "...you're in ********ing Atlanta, with literally thousands of Blacks folks who sound like me, and I'm the first one who's called you to buy a pizza?"

Two different times. The first quote was over the phine to an insured in Chicago who'd had a wreck here. The second didn't express any conservatism beyond her surprise that I was Black.

Stand up comedy is bad enough. From some guy named Vecchione? Naw, he ain't getting my time. Just type the punchline for me, will ya?

The French started out overthrowing their tyrant and accomplices. They moved into blame game and just started offing everyone.

Yes... This said, some really deserved to be blamed... The blaming and 'offing' game didn't go as far as it should have in 1945...

As if we didn't know things are bad.

    https://apnews.com/article/chicago-...er-trump-ice-8dbf688f78f3b6d1b8fdb989557b28c4

Storming an apartment complex by helicopter as families slept. Deploying chemical agents near a public school. Handcuffing a Chicago City Council member at a hospital.

Activists, residents and leaders say increasingly combative tactics used by federal immigration agents are sparking violence and fueling neighborhood tensions in the nation’s third-largest city.

“They are the ones that are making it a war zone,” Illinois Gov. JB Pritzker said Sunday on CNN. “They fire tear gas and smoke grenades, and they make it look like it’s a war zone.”

And a reminder that this was said on Friday:

So the speech to the generals this week, speech to the Navy today saying “we have to take care of these little gnats on our shoulder called the democrats”. They’re trying to force the military to take sides. Before they escalate. To create a situation where it’s too late.

buckle up. This is gonna get really really bad.

  15. If someone/a bunch of people with masks and not showing a warrant invade your home, emptying an AR 15 is legitimate isnot it?

Edit: I think a couple of this kind of reactions is gonna make Ice cold cowards think twice soon..

That's the issue. ICE/Miller is trying to provoke a reaction to justify their over the top responses. That was the point of the article I posted just above: ICE is creating the environment, and as @diablodelsol said, they are not being held accountable.

Of course, police in this country have a long history of not being held accountable.

Besides the above, no knock warrants and people shooting cops for b and e happens all the time. It doesn't go well for the civilian.

I was thinking more likely to be some rightwing nut job who is labeled as false flag and an undercover antifa that's likely to kick things off.

    C'mon, ICEholes wouldn't lie

A woman shot by an immigration agent after she allegedly rammed his vehicle on Chicago’s Southwest Side over the weekend was ordered released from jail Monday following a hearing where her attorney claimed it was federal agents patrolling the city with assault rifles who were the real danger.

The incident in Brighton Park on Saturday ratcheted up an already tense atmosphere between federal law enforcement and the communities that have been subject to nearly a month of “Operation Midway Blitz,” the Trump administration’s ongoing immigration enforcement push.

That tension was on full display Monday at the Dirksen U.S. Courthouse, where dozens of supporters of Marimar Martinez, the woman who was shot, as well as her co-defendant, Anthony Ian Santos Ruiz, packed U.S. Magistrate Judge Heather McShain’s 17th Floor courtroom for their initial court appearances.

    https://www.yahoo.com/news/articles/attorney-woman-shot-multiple-times-165300016.html

Where did the semi-automatic weapon go?

A senior Department of Homeland Security official said on Saturday the woman, Marimar Martinez, 30, was armed with a semi-automatic weapon when she rammed a federal vehicle and later accelerated toward an agent. However, a criminal complaint filed Sunday morning makes no mention of Martinez possessing or using a firearm.

It drives me crazy to hear people I know talk about how police can't (not sont) lie.

It makes me want to be an anarchist to see the many systems in place beginning under the assumption police never lie.

    I'll drink to that!

The Nobel Prize in Physics has been awarded to John Clarke, Michel H. Devoret and John M. Martinis for their work on quantum mechanics that is paving the way for a new generation of very powerful computers

"To put it mildly, it was a surprise of my life," said Professor John Clarke, who was born in Cambridge, UK and now works at the University of California in Berkeley.

Michel H. Devoret was born in Paris, France and is a professor at Yale University, while John M. Martinis {no birthplace given} is a professor at University of California, Santa Barbara.

Plugging the news into this thread to remind everyone that we are enormous net beneficiaries of immigration - our country as a whole, and especially our universities.
