I’m not sure the evidence supports this statement.

Also, please no homophobic personal attacks (or personal attacks in general). Apparently this needs to be said unfortunately.

Besides staking out courthouses for people doing the right legal thing to do, why not just create half a million people to arrest?

If it was a 2 year reprieve that went into effect January of 2023, is Trump just enforcing the deadline, or is the target those who haven’t hit 2 years yet?

    Two quite different things

The people who hid Anne Frank were white non-Jews who had an opinion on Nazis. Do they not get to have an opinion on the Nazis and since they do, do you not respect it?

I think I may have implied that it was all or nothing, I should have characterized it more as that I can be selective about whose opinion I can respect. The folks you mentioned put their lives on the line and saved many of my people so that's a huge feather in their cap.

I wonder if it would make a difference if they were called Gestapo rather than Nazis.

Dem Rep. Maxwell Frost calls for mass amnesty by granting citizenship to every undocumented individual currently in America.

I wonder if this view aligns with where the average American is at.

I want to add that the Dodgers publicized this. The news didn’t come from ICE.

Institutions like an MLB team located in Los Angeles have a tricky line to walk here. The Dodgers seem to be ground zero for the intersection of sports and Trump’s ethnic cleansing efforts. They’d gotten some stick for not being more supportive of Latinos. Then the anthem singer sang it in Spanish after she’d been asked to do it in English.

My point being, I think the Dodgers being the ones who got this into the media is Interesting in that context. Are they changing sides (oversimplified but yall get it) or trying to find a balance.

I was visiting my dad recently - it's the only time I see the physical paper version of the LA Times - and they had an op/ed calling out the Dodgers for not doing enough to support their Hispanic fans. Headline: "Cowardly Dodgers remain silent as ICE raids terrorize their fans." I think this is the article, and it does not appear to be paywalled.

    https://www.latimes.com/sports/dodgers/story/2025-06-14/dodgers-ice-raids-protests-dylan-hernandez

(Soccer connection: the writer, Dylan Hernandez, covered the Quakes for the San Jose Mercury News a decade or two ago.)

I'm not sure if the Dodgers are acting in response to criticism from the community, or if they were doing things quietly behind the scenes until ICE made them take a side today. I've also seen reports that ICE says it wasn't them getting turned away from Dodger Stadium today, they say it was CBP instead, but I'm not sure it makes a difference, and in any case, ICE has no credibility so I don't believe what they say.

Anyways, since ICE is a stand-up organization, and the Trump administration is not vindictive in any way, I'm sure ICE will leave the Dodgers alone and not set up outside the stadium after their game against the Padres this evening, and set up roadblocks and such to punish people who go to the Dodgers game. They would never do that.

Yeah, I mean, if ICE did that, why, that’s harassment right out of the 1920s Nazi playbook. (And I am NOT exaggerating or guilty of Godwinning the issue. Note I wrote the 20s not the 30s.).
