Ah but they did:- "Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) agents detained Brad Lander, who is the city's comptroller, "for assaulting law enforcement and impeding a federal officer", a spokesperson said."

You replied and you’re not a moderator, so arguably replying is one of YOUR dumbest posts.

Yes, it’s 100% certain Germy’s goal is to be an annoying little ********. But it takes two for that folks.

If troll posts in a forest of ignore lists, does it make a sound?

Ok that metaphor got away from me

My mom was raised in occupied France while her father was in the French underground. They were forewarned that the Nazis were coming for them one night (they had been hiding a downed New Zealand airman who I later had the pleasure of speaking to). My family were able to escape from the Nazis.

I can tell you how my mom feels about Nazis and she does not hold back when talking about the orange Hitler-loving felon and his associates.

meh, I barely respond to Germs, but the whole ignore thing gets a little overhyped and we don’t want this place to become just another echo chamber, right?

Besides, I think Germy is trying to be a little less of a troll. I could be wrong but it’s easy enough to scroll on past if I find his nonsense objectionable.

or respond in an unambiguous way, as the case may be. :)

It's bizarre that some people get legitimately angry over anonymous posts on the internet and then proceed to make useless personal attacks and insults (a good example right here in this thread). Those are an easy ignore for me, I just don't bother with it.

That said, I still see a lot of discourse around what I post, but a good portion of it I can't see, so I'm guessing those same folks who lash out continue to be irritated by what I post, they refuse to use the ignore function, and continue to waste their breath and emotional bandwidth in complaining.

Admit it, you love to wind up the libs and this is largely a lib corner of the internet, obviously. I don’t think you really took much time to understand this place though and so your presence has not added much to the level of discourse. Smart, tolerant and funny people have formed an interesting community here, one that provides a wealth of information. I’ve learned about significant developments here before they’ve hit the MSM, and picked up a level of detail that has been informative.

And, it’s that rare intersection of things I care about, soccer, music, (left leaning) politics. And it can be damn funny at times.

So, I wish you would engage more thoughtfully instead of being disruptive simply for the sake of a good wind up.

I find it all fascinating. It's one of the main reasons I came back after a long time away. It's a good case study in how the internet has affected our political discourse and how the echo chamber encourages intolerance.

A lot of people just assume I hate all Dems, but that couldn't be further from the truth (I quite like Josh Shapiro for example). I'm more than happy to disagree amicably, but too often liberals (as well as some R's/MAGAs) simply want to shout down opposing viewpoints with insults. A lot of them are less tolerant than they think they are, either that or they aren't being honest with themselves.

So whatever you may think of my presence is not overly important because I am mostly getting the pulse of the typical liberal community, which is interesting to me. And as you mentioned, sometimes I do learn something useful as well.

As a parent, I care about all of it (both left leaning and right leaning views), because it's input that gets fed into my understanding of the world, the political climate, and what is motivating people. For example, views on immigration from both on the left and right are very instructive and will help me communicate these issues to my children when they are old enough to understand.

There are certainly some aspects of the right-leaning and MAGA-spheres (and even the current administration) that I don't like. But some people are too quick to rush to judgment, and it's unfortunate when they allow their emotions to devolve into screaming and insulting.

you’re doing more than getting the pulse though, you’re trying be a disruptive influence here and I expect on some level you find that amusing or you wouldn’t put so much effort into it, despite all the feedback you’re getting.

So maybe give it a rest or try a different approach?

I’m one of the very very few right leaning posters who feel comfortable posting here. I imagine it’s because most don’t want to bother with the unhinged behavior I pointed out.

You’d think eventually some would realize the condescending attitudes aren’t helping the Dem brand and its relatability to the average American, but I think a good amount are beyond help. Just look at how they treat ceezmad, who just wants to help his cause and think critically.

Not really a good case study. In the overall, we tend to be older, wealthier, and more educated (and read) than the average person. We also are far more interested in politics than the average person. We are also missing significant demographics beyond those mentioned. Yet, the last bit, that we are more educated (and read) than the average person both puts us in an echo chamber to people not like us (meaning not as educated and as read), but also allows us to hear opposing views when they are well reasoned. We cry out for the latter from the right, but very few ever deliver. And that is disappointing, and to some of us, frustrating.

Hate is a strong word. But your posting history around here has been one that very much amounts to trolling-like behavior, and you have not really engaged in discussion when asked. It's hard to not assume you have a dislike for the Dem view when what is described is your posting.

I think most of us would agree. Which is why we have asked you over and over and over to post a link when you bring something that is clearly news. And once you get involved in stuff like that, you would be surprised to see how many of us say "huh, that was interesting."

To be fair, I never read a post of him saying he was Catholic, but I have read a few saying he is Jewish (or part Jewish).

Reading up on it a bit, prior SC decisions give presidents pretty wide latitude to say when the guard is needed. So really a symbolic battle by Newsom.

I am not sure how much it needs repeating. No one is getting angry or triggered with your shit. You are more of a roll-eye and/or facepalm type poster. Hope that helps.

    FYP...

No one here is representing the Democratic brand for you to be impressed. No one is trying to get you to like Dems to get you to change your mind. Many of us, aren't even Dems to begin with, but are former Republicans and Independents, so again, your assumption of who you are interacting with and who your audience is for trolling - is flawed.
