Yeah, but... I don't want to be a raving fanboy, but I hate the fact that Greedo shoots first. Generally, I don't mind the changes to the movies in the remastered versions (hell, some of 'em are needed changes that improve the films), but Greedo shooting first is an abomination that ruins the character of Han Solo.
Lots of rumors that they'll be tweaking it even more. I'm sure glad I've got a letterboxed copy of the original trilogy on VHS.
Why has it taken so long for the trilogy of parts 4-6? Seems crazy. I liked the originals and not even seen the original Part4 with the additional stuff. For me after seeing PartI, I gave up. Lucas ruined a classic for most fans as far as I can tell.
Think the reason it took so long for the DVD was GL was going to hold off until after ep III was released.
That is a shame. I would think that I am not alone, in thinking that some fans will just stay with the original trilogy, after being disappointed by the newer films.
I have the original movies in a VHS boxed set, so I probably wont bother getting them on DVD. I'll probably buy episode 3 on DVD when it's released, but that's about it.
Lucas must be releasing these before Episode 3 because he is terrified by the lack of interest in his new trilogy.
That's changed back to the original scene according to http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0076759/board/nest/4155002
Those rumors have been debunked. The only changes from the SE's that were released I've heard are the lightsabers in the Obi-Wan/Vader duel in A New Hope have been fixed.
Lucas can keep screwing with these things as long as he wants. At this point, I no longer care. I don't understand why he can't see the potential in releasing a director's cut and an original trilogy edition. Maybe he's afraid nobody will buy the ones he's been messing with. I just wish he would let us see the movies the way we remember them from the theater (those of us who were old enough, anyway).
