That's a quite unexpected turn of events, isn't it? Just when it looked like Mjelde's international career was done for good.

Yes, I never expected this. Apparently she wasn't considered good enough for Brann and ended up at Arna Bjørnar instead. Now back to England and WSL. Weird, but also exciting. She is still ambitious and wants to play in the Euros this summer.

Yea, I share that sentiment. I've heard the men's club think they will get the investment back, but what happen if they don't? I feel USA is on much more stable ground here.

Mjelde was in talk with Brighton, where her partner plays, and then Everton's captain did her ACL last week and they were in desperate need for an experienced centre-back.

Shadia Nankya moves to NWSL side Washington Spirit

    Ronald Lusulire

In a landmark transfer for Ugandan women's football, Crested Cranes defender Shadia Nanka has completed a high-profile move to Washington Spirit in the National Women’s Soccer League (NWSL) in the United States.

Nankya, who has signed a four-year contract, becomes the first Ugandan female footballer to play in the top-tier American league, widely regarded as the best women’s football division in the world.

A step up in her career

The towering defender joins Washington Spirit after an impressive spell at FC Masar in Egypt, where she played a crucial role in the club’s third-place finish on their debut appearance in the CAF Women’s Champions League.

The phrase "towering defender" made me want to look for her height, but I couldn't find it. :cautious:

Yeah, I couldn't either. Well, at least they didn't describe her as diminutive Intriguing find though, by the Spirit, they are really utilizing their international slots.

Tigres vs Rayadas: Rebeca Bernal's Final Match Before Joining Washington Spirit

    13.02.2025 15:46

In a bittersweet farewell, Rebeca Bernal will play her final match with Rayadas on February 14 against Tigres in Liga MX Femenil before embarking on her next journey with the Washington Spirit in the NWSL.

So the Spirit have picked-up another international defender. They now have all eight international slots taken with the following players:

    Aexandra MacIver, 26 GK Scotland
    Esme Morgan, 24 CB England
    Shadia Nankya, 24 CB Uganda
    Kysha Sylla, 21 CB France
    Narumi Miura, 27 MF Japan
    Leicy Santos, 28 MF Colombia
Rosemonde Kouassi, 23 Attacker Ivory Coast
    Rebeca Bernal, 27 CB Mexico

Internationals owned by Spirit but not counting towards International slots:

Ouleymata Sarr, 29 Attacker France on Season Ending Injured List
Deborah Abiodun, 19 MF Nigeria. On season-long loan to Dallas Trinity
Tamara Bolt, 21 Attacker Brazil. On season-long loan to Dallas Trinity

When Sarr comes back from injury one of the current internationals will have to move somewhere.

Orlando Pride acquires 2023 World Cup winner Oihane Hernández

    Orlando Pride Communications

    ORLANDO, Fla. (Feb. 14, 2025)

The Orlando Pride has acquired defender Oihane Hernández on an immediate transfer from Real Madrid Femenino for an undisclosed fee and have signed the former World Cup winner to a two-year contract through the 2026 season, with a mutual option for 2027, it was announced today.

“Oihane is a technically gifted defender who excels in both defensive organization and distribution from the back. She brings world-class experience and a championship mindset from her time with Spain's national team,” VP of Soccer Operations and Sporting Director Haley Carter said. “Oihane’s ability to perform in high-pressure situations and her tactical understanding and ability to read the game will be invaluable assets as we continue building a championship-caliber roster. We’re delighted to bring her to the City Beautiful.”

“I'm excited to join the Orlando Pride and begin this new chapter in my career. The club's vision and ambition really influenced me to make the move to Orlando,” Hernández said. “I am impressed by the professional environment and the enthusiasm of the staff, teammates and passionate fanbase. Rumours
    - Olga Carmona RealMadrid --> PSG
    - Abriel, the PSG coach, could leave at the end of the season (without being a PSG fan, anyone who loves football would be happy...)
    - Kelly Gago Everton --> PSG

    - MA Katoto will likely leave PSG, her destination could be OL. Not being a fan of Katoto, this rumor doesn't please me.
