I found the La Stampa ratings on Krokko's site for 1993/94 now indeed (via on old post I made on Big Soccer rather than using an internet search this time): Football Ratings: Memory Lane: Serie A 1993/94. (football-ratings.blogspot.com) 6,91 Gullit (Sampdoria) 6,58 Tacconi (Genoa) 6,46 Peruzzi (Juventus) 6,44 Ferrara (Napoli), Fusi (Torino) 6,43 Marchegiani (Lazio), Seno (Foggia) 6,42 Thern (Napoli) 6,40 Turci (Cremonese), Conte (Juventus) Referees 6,53 Pairetto 6,33 Collina 6,31 Rodomonti
This was Gazzetta yes (part-owned by Agnelli and FIAT) https://m.calciomio.fr/totti-meille...n-les-notes-de-la-gazzetta-dello-sport_217342 I had already posted the highest DBScalcio ratings of the time. ‐-------------------------------- "DBScalcio shows Gullit with a 6.917 rating at DBScalcio. That is a margin of 0.272 to #2 in the database (F. Baresi) for 1993-94. Take it with a *huge* pinch of salt, but this are the other highly rated players between 1980 (opening borders) and 2000 (basically the end of the golden period). Krokko also said a few times something about rating inflation around the mid-1980s. 6.75 or higher in DBScalcio (1980 - 2000) Krol 1980-81 (Napoli) - 6.931 Gullit 1993-94 (Sampdoria) - 6.917 Krol 1981-82 (Napoli) - 6.907 Maradona 1984-85 (Napoli) - 6.900 Causio 1981-82 (Udinese) - 6.846 Mancini 1990-91 (Sampdoria) - 6.845 Thuram 1996-97 (Parma) - 6.838 Zico 1983-84 (Udinese) - 6.833 Vieri 1998-99 (Lazio) - 6.833 Weah 1995-96 (AC Milan) 6.808 Brehme 1988-89 (Internazionale) - 6.790 L. Junior 1984-85 (Torino) - 6.788 Briegel 1984-85 (Hellas Verona) - 6.778 Gullit 1987-88 (AC Milan) - 6.759 ......... Maradona 1987-88 (Napoli) - 6.607 Gullit's margin in 1993-94 (0.272) is higher as the one of Krol in 1980-81 (0.211)" https://www.bigsoccer.com/threads/the-thread-for-ruud-gullit.2130952/page-16#post-42471110 1994-95 looks a fair bit underappreciated to me, so far, just as an individual.
.... Professional football's main objective is to always put the ball into the net. as simple as that ! Defenders.. Tackles Won Def Covers Interceptions Duels Won Headers Won Clearances Yellow Cards Red Cards Positioning Concentration for 96 minutes Composure Anticipating Decisions Stronger personality Leadership a winning mentality etc... midfielders Assists Pre-Assists Goals Passing accuracy Vertical Passing skills Diagonal Passing skills Vision Shots on Target Ratio % Yellow Cards Red Cards Passing Skills Anticipating Concentration Construct playmaking moment Off the ball movements Decisions Composure Behavior in Big matches etc.... Attackers Goals Assists Pre-assists.. Shots on Target ratio % accuracy etc... well there are..total Footballers.. they are great defending... setting up the game.. " playmaking players " and attacking at the same time always . Pelé...Cruyff...Franz Beckenbauer.. Di Stefano...Ruud Gullit.... Lothar Matthaus ... Professional football is not the dribble completed ...that is the main objective or . like Skateboarding..and Bike...Xgame s.. Espn Where the skateboarder... went out doing maneuvers of a higher degree of difficulty... so he added points. ++++++++++ points .. by the way.. or circuit..there in the championship ... the greater the degree of difficulty of the maneuver in question, it will be worth many more points.. In professional football this is not the main objective Like a Player enters the Field to give or execute dribbles with a greater degree of difficulty" with higher technique and accuracy " and then earns points for this..always Honestly, usually it don't wins anything. dribbles completed with Shots Off the Target are worthless in professional football . FreeStyle Football championship ... is made to Dribbles ...there But Professional Football ... not not not or never never never .. was the main Target ....of the game . ! ......
I took this video ... from the channel ... Zinedine Zidane videos .! PuckVanHeel .... this is the perfect video ... that i'm trying to show you always . Firstly ..: Zidane had a terrible performance against Republic Czech ..Republic ... in 2003 ... Most people confusing such a player who has a lot of pure talent.. #Ball control skills #First Touch Skills #Dribbling Skills. #Technically brilliant #Pure or Born Talent #Magician things .. #Fantasy Skills .. As these players have a certain poetic, artistic, technical license " technical gestures License." How dare you analyze me by real numbers always .. As they cannot or could never be compared by the normal and fair metrics of Professional Football.. As if these players...were very consistent and really effective performers always. that is a Lie for sure .. Of course ... generally ...( Zinedine Zidane ..Jay Jay Okocha.. Ronaldinho ..Djalminha ...Clarence Seedorf ....Beckham ... Berbatov ...Bergkamp ...Baggio...Neymar Jr...Mahrez... etc .. only to take the them average in general ... the Sand Castle of Illusion fell without any foundation) ) ... But ... for sure ... Dennis Bergkamp ...Ruud Gullit... and Marco van Basten They had all the strengths and qualities to be much better..than Zidane...easily ... Zidane is super deified. by First touch skills .... dribbling skills ... ball control skills ... Elegance Technique by fools on the Internet Highlights only... Zidane has never been a really consistent, effective and high-performing performer
Please ... going there ... with calm.. !.. on the road ... you will get it ..as soon as possible ... hahahaha !
...... Is Interesting .. the mentality Of Pelé ...that he is speaking there ... Pelé speaking there..in the documentary.. Despite having scored more than 1000 goals in my career.. It's always a joy to do it again... a new goal... a new goal ... a new goal ...a new goal .. There would be no Football without the Goal in any sport. you have the maximum achievement In Football, the ultimate achievement is the goal.. Pelé's Mind speaking ..with himself ....: Theoretically..The easiest way to reach the goal is to go straight through the middle, attacking zone 14 aggressively. with very very Aggression ... vertically is much easier than doing zig zag ..." If you have two players extremely quicker and Foresight.. Premonition..Intuition's Mind You attack by doing Plays one-twos..and narrowing the game..on the middle ... no fears at all .. and Attacking zone 14 or half-moon in brazilian portuguese .. a expression in Football from here .. in Brazil... ..and having ..an absurd Technique " ambi-dextrous feet "..then it is easier to attack through the middle ..and narrow ..in a matter of Milli-Seconds the move to make is decided on my mind ... Examples this... type Pelé and Coutinho .. Pelé and Pagão .... I don't know why... the teams... nowadays are afraid of attacking zone 14... playing in midfield. and narrow.. They are playing now on the wings..and widen the field a lot.. They say it's very difficult to play through the middle and narrow. Here is Wiliam Phil Gracek talking to you .. PuckVanHeel .. I got the feeling that Pelé is talking about the 1974 Dutch team.. the mentality ..of the dutch Football ... or German Football ...
I'm enjoying it when i have time. Never got to see gullit or the Dutchman live but it takes me back to that era. All of the translated press clippings
This was Gullit his player card of 1974 As already mentioned, he was between 1966 and 1975 playing and training next to the old Ajax stadium and training fields. This stadium no longer exists (demolished in 1996). Some of the football fields still do. The European Cup games however took place in a different stadium, that has been brought back to the old and classic state. It is a national monument (and was placed on this list to save it from the scrapheap). It is not the same place as when Gullit was a junior and senior footballer, or played his games there. https://sportgeschiedenis.nl/olympi...erd-het-olympisch-stadion-gered-van-de-sloop/
I'll start with the second half of 1994-95 now. I see now a few reports appearing about Italy becoming less desirable. Bryan Roy was kind of the first signal in this process. It is possible to see that in above video too (1992-2024). There is a sharp drop around 1995 and then more so after 2000. This is not really the case for Premier League (2nd behind France for this period), Bundesliga (2nd behind Brazil) and also La Liga (3rd European country behind France and Portugal).
The presenter asks Tele Santana who would he choose at 25 years old for his team between Baresi, Van Basten or Romário. Tele Santana chose Van Basten
Some good/interesting remarks by Gullit here (03/01/1995). He didn't like the Champions League He maybe could see where that would lead to. Gullit turns against the new commercialism in football Ruud Gullit finds it annoying that money has taken over football. "The financial aspect is destroying everything [of the sporting side]," he said in an interview with the Italian sports daily La Gazzetta dello Sport. ROME Gullit takes stock of the past year. He experienced a 'turbulent' 1994, with beautiful things such as the Sampdoria cup victory, his wedding and his meeting with Nelson Mandela. The ugliest of 1994? "The consequences of my cancellation for the national selection." According to Gullit, the transformation of football into a modern business goes back to the 1984 Olympic Games in Los Angeles. "They provided everyone with a model [template] for how big profits could be made from the sport. FIFA and UEFA also understood this at the time. The latest step in that direction has been the creation of the Champions League." He thinks it is a shame that defeats or early eliminations are only discussed in financial terms. What creates the biggest profits. "Football is business. Is that the footballers fault? But what should we do? We only play the leading role on the field. Nobody asked me anything." As an example, Gullit mentions his move to AC Milan in 1987. "When I came to Italy, they said in the Netherlands that I was the best-paid player in my country. But I didn't ask anything. Berlusconi (I don't want to judge him for this) and Philips had reached an agreement and then told me: "Gullit, the matter is settled." Now, seven years later, many have surpassed me and I am no longer the most expensive player in the Netherlands." Gullit wants to continue to believe in a better future, because he proclaims himself an inveterate dreamer and optimist. 'My dream is that 1995 may pass for all without envy or malice.' https://resolver.kb.nl/resolve?urn=ABCDDD:010870729:mpeg21:p015 https://resolver.kb.nl/resolve?urn=ABCDDD:010842166:mpeg21:a0208 That last comment is surely a reference to the nearby war in nearby Yugoslavia (Rwanda?). There was once a time where we were consistently the magnets for European wars.... (another beef of me is how the leading historians of our country are English, from S. Schama to J. Israel - I don't like that for one bit). At times all the neighbors simultaneously attacked us. Peace is oh so vulnerable, and not an automatic given, especially with certain neighbors around... Out of curiosity I wanted to check whether wealth tracked with warfare (the idea being wealth attract greedy neighbours), and it somewhat tracks (although methodology can be challenged)Here are all recorded battles on wikipedia from 1300 to 1750, N.Italy and Benelux stand out pic.twitter.com/MNJKlGG0mH— François Valentin (@Valen10Francois) September 17, 2024 As an aside, you can argue that many of the best/greatest players in history of their country were active in Gullit his time. Valderrama, Hagi, Stoichkov, Laudrup, also overlapping slightly with Litmanen (who is 7 years younger, yes). And so on.
