USMNT name 24-man roster for Concacaf Nations League games in March By Jonathan Sigal Wednesday, Mar 15, 2023, 01:02 PM Matt Turner called in. Only 1 MLS player (Miles Robinson). US plays at Grenada next Fri (Mar 24th), then hosts El Salvador on Mon 27th.
I've been following all season - and what an incredible one it's been. Hopefully they can finish off the regular season record for wins and points and then storm the Stanley Cup. Between the C's and B's, we've been spoiled with riches this year.
Interesting to think that if the Bruins actually do break the record, Boston would have three teams in the top 5 leagues that have the record for the best regular seasons ever in their respective leagues. Of course, the other two lost in the playoffs.
Interview with Latif Blessing https://www.wbur.org/radioboston/2023/04/11/soccer-revolution-lafc-latif-blessing No resolution on getting his family here ... yet.
Saw only a brief mention, but the visas have come through and they were supposed to all arrive back here as of yesterday. Great news on several levels: - just a nice human story, that a family that has had to deal with such a trying separation can now all be together - great that part of why Latif came here was because Bruce/Revs agreed to help him re-unite with his family - and were able to deliver - and a guy who is a very talented, skillful player, now has a lot less to worry about and can just play!
I can't even imagine being separated from my children for such long stretches at their young age. He must feel so relieved to see his daughter & wife every day now.
https://www.bostonglobe.com/2023/04/30/sports/bruins-record-holders-history/ Guess what team isn't mentioned in this article. I'm not sure how I feel about that.
Right there with you. On the one hand, I don't need any reminders. On the other hand, we will have really made it when our epic failures are viewed alongside the greatest choke jobs in American professional sports.
I think what happened last night was so much worse. Pats losing the perfect season, Revs losing after winning the Shield, those were both one-off games. We all know anything can happen in those situations. Bruins were up 3-1, had three chances to win it, including twice at home. Yes, I'm still furious about last night (well, along with the other two teams).
There's a reason that so many teams with the best regular season record don't get far in the NHL - playoff hockey is almost a different sport (and not a better one IMO). This came down to who could force the other team into more mistakes - there's a trip, hold or interference that could be called on almost every play.
I think it is worth noting that both number 1 seeds are out. The Bruins lost to Florida (last year's Presidents Trophy winners that are obviously better than their record this year), and Colorado (last year's Cup winners) lost to 2nd year side Seattle. This is so typical of the NHL playoffs where it really does seem like anything can and does happen. What makes it worse for the Bruins is everything you alluded to - the historic regular season coupled with having a 3-1 series lead, not getting out of the first round, unable to win more than one game at home, failing to protect leads in the 3rd period of game six, having a lead with a minute to go in game 7, losing two games at home in overtime. It can also be put in the rearview if they come back and win a Cup or two in the upcoming seasons (like the Pats eventually did), but they are going to be really hard pressed to deal with their various free agents, possible retirements, and cap constraints. The window might really be closed.
Yeah, I messed that up, Avs were the top seed in their side of the bracket. Vegas was the 1st seed overall (ironic that out of all the talk about all the great moves the Bruins made, bringing in a new coach, adding all the deadline additions, etc., that Bruce Cassidy's team is still playing).
Nothing definitive but I did see a phot on twitter of him standing in a knee brace and a statement that it is a bad sprain. I have no idea of the source or if it is credible.
