I'm assuming due to the potential Celtics game 7, the Revs game on Sunday has been moved to 5pm. I, for one, am absolutely thrilled about this.
Revs on the All-Star ballot: https://www.mlssoccer.com/all-star/2022/vote Forward/Winger (vote for 3): Altidore Boateng Rennicks AM (2): Gil Lletget DM (1): McNamara Polster LB (1): Jones CB (2): Farrell Gonzalez Kessler RB(1): Bye GK (1): none Wow. Altidore (456 min played), Boateng (487) and Rennicks (313) but not Bou (573)?
It looks like they're offering basically every player in MLS on the ballot, to judge by some of the marginal names I'm seeing there. But Bou, as you say, is nowhere to be found, which is strange. An oversight.... or something more sinister?
From what I understand, each team submits 12 players to be on the ballot. My guess is that these submissions were due when Bou was still injured.
Bad news for Turner's chances to start in Qatar: Source: USMNT's Zack Steffen nearing loan to Middlesbrough from Manchester City By Tom Bogert Tuesday, Jun 28, 2022, 03:45 PM
Odd statistical anomaly: Revs GK 2022 games started (all comp/reg): Djordje Petrovic - 7/5 (USOC) Earl Edwards Jr - 6/4 (CCL) Matt Turner - 5/5 Brad Knighton - 4/4 Jacob Jackson - 0/0 Clean sheets: Earl Edwards Jr - 2/1 Djordje Petrovic - 1/1 Matt Turner - 1/1 Such balance!
In the final 3 games of the Friedel era, the Revs gave up: 4 goals to SKC 6 goals to PHI 5 goals to CHI Since then, the Revs have not allowed more than 3 goals in any game.
I haven't been able to find a team that can match that streak. PHI came close: the last time they allowed 4 goals was July 2019. Nashville (nee 2020) has yet to allow 4+ goals in a game.
Apparently I also jinxed Nashville, who shipped 4 goals for the first time since joining MLS, losing 4-1 at CLT. In other news, the HOU/DAL game feature the debut of HH, an MLS-record 12 minutes of added time (they ended up playing 14), an MLS-record latest goal (90+11') and red card (90+13'). DCU has given up on Chad Ashton, falling 7-0 to PHI while rumors swirl of the imminent take over by Wayne Rooney. MIA loses 1-0 on a stoppage time (90+2') own goal. SEA drops below playoff line with 3-0 home loss to POR. Crazy weekend.
Anyone know what happened to Elizabeth Pehota? Haven't seen her on the Revs website in several weeks. She isn't listed on the Revs staff page, although her twitter account still says "Reporter/Host for (@)nerevolution".
https://www.frontrowsoccer.com/2022...no-stadium-to-host-uws-national-championship/ The United Women’s Soccer UWS National Championship will take place at Lusitano Stadium in Ludlow, Mass. in July 23-24. It will mark the first time the national championship will be held on the East Coast.
According to her Linkedin page, she just got a new job with a company in Bellingham, Washington called BrandGlue, which describes itself as a "social media and creative strategy agency."
I watched some of the friendlies last night, between MLS and top European clubs. For the most part, the MLS teams held their own against those teams. As I watched the young players for the MLS teams compete against the big clubs and their world-class stars, I thought the MLS as a AAA league with up-and-coming players is much more exciting than as a senior retirement league.
Saw some of the scores and wondered why we don't get games like that [anymore]? Probably the turf, among other reasons.
Watched a bunch of games at the Women's Euro Cup over the last week. Couple of thoughts ... - England was very, very lucky to get past Spain - they were thoroughly outplayed and were 7 minutes from being eliminated - Tough final matchup - Germany looked like the better team, to me, but England was getting the more dangerous chances throughout. I expected the home side to prevail because of more/better good chances. - The USWNT is in deep, deep trouble. The quality coming through in Europe is on another level, no doubt nurtured by the investment by the men's EUFA giants, as well as the strongest leagues in the world now. Spain, France, Germany and England have all improved exponentially in skill, tactical awareness and speed/strength/size/stamina. While the US has been fumbling women's pro soccer, Europe has applied all their commanding talent/resources from the men's game to springboard their women's game. Our best players are going over to play in their leagues, but all of their players are over there. Unless the US gets some very lucky draws/results, I don't see them cracking the final 4 in a major tournament in the foreseeable future.
I don't know about deep, deep trouble, but there's no doubt the US has lost its first- mover advantage. The US team has been a bit complacent, a bit old, and a bit stagnant. I fully expect a European team to win the next World Cup, but at the same time, i still think the US will go deep in the tournament. And I know it's halfway across the world, but I'm sort of toying with the idea of going.
