Well, we certainly have a lot of cash to make it happen now.

But, I still don't seem them going that way - the 'buy young/talented players, grow them and sell' model is working quite well. And there's enough profit off that to keep investing in 'keepers', ex., Dave Romney.

It’s one of the five or six secondary logos the Revs came up with. Personally, I like it better than the R-with-sash since a fort around “NE” better says revolution to me.

Instead of just saying "Look we screwed up, and we'll do better..." the Revs continue to flounder.

Honestly, while the original name was out there, the Revs shouldn't have listed it. Secondly, it's a he screwed up email, without acknowledging that his boss should take the responsibility for bad training.

They are straight tripping over themselves right now finding ways to embarrass the organization. It has been a refresher course in the Revolution's history of stepping in it over the last month. Coach suspended, radio silence, instead we get marketing emails about next year's season tickets and Pats tickets. Star GK has club reject transfers, whines about it, then gets transferred after all. Bad sales email promoting opposing star causes stir, follow up apology email doesn't help, team gets a story on the Daily Mail about it. Social media team thinks things like a geography lesson video that fully embarrasses players are a good idea. And where once it looked like we were getting healthier and most everyone on the roster ready to go for the stretch run, now we have to replace our starting GK and weather more injury storms as the season gets going again.

Good times. Thanks God there's a game tomorrow.

Agreed. Tough month. I too thought that geography idea was in poor judgement. I mean, yeah, the players probably aren't too keen nor interested in geography. I don't need them to be and I don't care. I just want them to play well.

Not to mention the Knighton tragedy, which can't be compared with things like injuries or coaching suspensions, but it was one more in a litany of dark clouds hovering over the team.

Revs have spent less time this season (than any other MLS club) playing from behind, only 14%.

Going into the ATX game, they were 3rd in the league in goals allowed in the last 15 minutes, with 12 (now 13), ATX was first with 14.

During the telecast, they showed that stat - and then we proceeded to demonstrate why we're among the league leaders.

Charlie Davies was working on getting a USL team in NH, but it looks like Portland, Maine beat him to the punch:

Taika Waititi brings us a new film starring Michael Fassbender as former New England Revolution head coach Thomas Rongen. No, this movie has nothing to do with the Revs but it is football and if you like Waititi's work this looks like it will be fun to watch.

I'm furious I can't find this link, but 98.5 just told a story about something that happened in 2011. I'm paraphrasing now but the Revs scouted someone from Nigeria and his twin (?) Michael Augustine came in. The Revs realized their mistake, but didn't want to take the PR hit and so signed him to some small deal and he played one USOC game. He apparently also stole a watch from the locker room and wound up denying it over and over. Yet posted a picture later on (after he was cut) wearing the watch.

Ah Michael Burns, you'll continue to amaze me with your failures at your job. And yet you kept it for years.

I think they're in better shape than the Revs when it comes to a stadium, since the powers that be seem to want it to happen.

Boston applied for 2024, but got beat out by Utah and San Jose. NWSL added 2 teams in 2022 (LA and SD), so it looks like they are only expanding in even years. Denver and Cleveland are also in the running for 2026.

True, but White Stadium would not meet the criteria required for the Revs. Too small scale.

Yes, but I just don't think it's going to be a good stadium solution (although I'd be happy to be wrong on that).

They are refurbishing an old stadium design - the remaining stand is not going to have great sight-lines (too flat, few higher seats) and unless the rebuilt side has a totally different design, it will have similar problems. Nickerson Field has a similar grandstand 'shape' (unless it's changed in the years since I've been there) and I've alway felt that it was a really poor place for watching soccer (I used to go a lot when I knew one of the BU players).

Then there's the location - I just don't see them drawing a lot of people via public transportation and it's not an easy place to drive to and park (though I suppose they'll come up with a parking plan). Having lived in the 'burbs for many years, I've noticed how hard it has been to get people to go to the Franklin Park Zoo, which is right next door. Sadly, people are just anxious about going to a white-minority neighborhood and believe too much of the media hype about crime/violence.

Personally, I think they should take advantage of Linda Pizzuto's involvement and play in Fenway Park. I think the aura of the historic ballpark would help draw fans in, along with the easy access to public transportation and all the amenities of the neighborhood already existing (including the streets that the Red Sox have taken over).

Fenway Park sucks as a soccer stadium. The history of the park and the access to public transportation are the only positives. The field will be narrow, the sightlines will be crap, the distance between fans and field will kill atmosphere, as will the fact that the stadium will be too big for what they should expect to draw. Franklin Park isn't a great location, I agree on that. I think it will be challenging for them, but I think it is going to be challenging for them no matter what they do.
