Yes, it's Part XV. Call it the "Louis the Beloved" edition of the thread.

Matt Doyle recently had a great article about how the Seattle Sounders went about creating their acclaimed dynasty. It's interesting to think of how the Revs fare along the axes that Doyle mentions as being prerequisites for success.

Strong spine? Check. A game-winning number 10? Check. A top-notch forward? Check. A strong development pathway? Double un-check. Etc.

Worth a read, and a ponder.

If you were wondering about the long term effects of playing in a stadium built on a toxic waste site, check out Diego Fagundez' hair...

I think he's challenging Matt for our 2nd most valuable player (Gil being first, obviously).

Did anyone watch highlights of the Red Bulls loss in Miami? The uniform color combo (all red vs all pink) must have caused retina damage to anyone at the game...

Has anyone notice who (not named Gil) is leading MLS in assists?

I'm happy for him. It was clear at the time he left he needed a change of scenery.

What must be going through Jon Bell's mind as he keeps sitting the bench in favour of Omar Gonzalez?

It's the same thing that was going on in Geoff Cameron's and Matt Miazga's mind before Omar kicked the ball in his own net to disqualify the US for the 1st time since the 1980's - the guy must have compromising pics on Bruce.

Has anyone watched Austin's games? I'm curious as to how he's playing and what he's doing differently now vs. when he was so ineffective with us his last few years.

His goal Sunday was comical. His defender decides to leave him standing at the top of the 18 to go and cover a runner into the box. So Diego just shoots from where he is and scores.

Turner with another shutout (with help from the crossbar on a PK).

Eye-opening interview. I highly recommend watching.

The Call Up: Chris Seitz on Mental Health and How Fitness Can Go Dangerously Too Far
    mlssoccer.com
    video (length 36:24)

As someone who has family members who have struggled with (and overcome) mental health issues, as well as some who have struggled with weight loss, this hits home with me.

The biggest lesson I have learned about weight control is that each body is different. There is no diet plan that fits everyone.

I'm 56, and I never dieted in my life until last year. Throughout my life I put on a few pounds each year until I reached a point where it was affecting my health, so I finally decided to do something about it. But I did research and developed a personalized diet plan that fit with my lifestyle and I could be comfortable with, which made it easier to stick to. Over the course of 8 months I lost 35 pounds, and I've maintained that weight since then. My doctor would probably say I should lose more, but I'm at a good place right now, and that's what matters. Not what some chart says I should be.

The quote that caught my eye was:

“I have to train at a higher level,” he said. “The style of play with the Revolution is mighty old school. If there’s pressure, we don’t really try to play out of it too much. At Arsenal, the goalkeepers are required to play a little bit more with the ball, playing in the system rather than just sort of going out there. They have to follow tactics and game plans a little more closely. Those are things that I know are valued with the national team that I’ll be challenged more with Arsenal."

Jozy was at the French Open the other day (Wednesday?) watching his wife (and daughter of former Patriot John), Sloane Stevens, play. Alas, she lost to Coco Gauff. I assume the Revs had a couple of days off for the break, allowing a quick trip over to Paris.

This really hit close to home. I went through two miscarriages with my wife before finally getting pregnant with our own little boy and I was in tears reading the beginning of this article. It's such a struggle to have to go through so much emotional turmoil and feel like you have to cope on your own. To perform at such a high level in such a high pressure spot is almost incomprehensible to me.
