I've actually warmed up to the idea of Clint moving back to MLS. He's unlikely to get much better than he already is and he should be able to maintain his current level in MLS. Plus now I'll be able to watch him when I want without having to wake up super early. I also wouldn't be surprised if he went on loan during MLS offseason this next winter back to the BPL.

It's funny, I've never seen Demps as our "flag bearer." To me, the Reynas, Bradley's, Boca's all feel like "Captain America's" sailing the euro seas in a regulation vessel.

I've always seen Clint as a buccaneer, a privateer, a guy who does it Clint's way, and while he loves repping his country, he does it his way. While this move is a complete surprise to me, that it is Demps making a shock move is not as surprising.

The incredible season you had at Fulham, your lone year at Tottenham and everything in between. Thanks for all the YA Memories Deuce!

It could fill spoon full of water
Save you from the desert sand
But one spoon of little forty-five
    Save you from another man
    Men lies about them
Some of them cries about them
Some of them dies about them
    Everybody fightin' about the spoonful
That spoon, that spoon, that spoonful

Remind me about Dempsey to Liverpool. Please. It's shocking Tottenham gets so much attention for being a one man show.

Incredibly, I had dinner with a bunch of soccer players from USA who don't even consider Donovan or Dempsey in their mind. Not trying to dig, but we don't have much quality.

Seattle is over 2000 miles away from me...I'm not going to be seeing him in person anymore now than I did when he was in England.

Deuce was a great Yank abroad. Wonderful European career. Cut a little short? Yes, I think so... but I respect his decision, it makes perfect sense all things considered.

I can't wait to see him play for a club in person.

It's pretty obvious I meant "live" and in person. So true.

Was it really that difficult to comprehend that I was talking about seeing him play live? Apparently it was.

You're aware that he will be playing many games a season in cities closer to you than Seattle, yes?

All that means is these soccer players you had dinner with have preconceived notions about American players. Donovan and Dempsey are quality players that all but a select few countries would love to add to their pools.

Yeah, who were these soccer players he had dinner with? I'm sure they were all better than Donovan and Dempsey, right? I mean, they would have to be in order for their opinion to be worth something.

Yes, well, most 3 year olds don't know too much about much in general.

Do you have any other reports from idiots you've spoken with?

I'm guessing teenagers? And in my experience you're right, they'll be thinking about Neymar, Bale, and CR and Messi because they want to shoot for the top and hear 'welcome to the heights' (holla).

But did you ask them specifically about Donovan and Dempsey (or Bradley or Altidore)? Because I bet they know what they're up to, and it would be a mistake to think they don't notice when Donovan gets on the field in the World Cup and is he best player on the field, or that Dempsey score these big (and sometimes outrageous) goals in the BPL. And they're sure as hell gonna notice that Dempsey is gettin' paid.

They aspire to be more than these 'old' guys, and they should, and we already have a few players in the next generation (by next generation, I mean Bradley and Altidore's age) who look on track to surpass their club accomplishments at least. When you're trying to clear that bar, you look where it is, but you don't always pay attention to how it got that high.

As to 'much quality', it all depends on your reference point, doesn't it. Did you watch our national team in the late 80's/early 90's? We could put together 10 squads now that would beat those guys.

it doesnt even matter if he gets him, he has destabilized the situation, which is its own kind of victory.

    As to Higuain, who knows.
