Well, any of you who missed today's Real Madrid-Barcelona game missed one of the most beautiful displays ever of the Beautiful Game. Ronaldinho scored two "gol de placa" (Portuguese for goals so beautiful monuments should be built in their honor). After the second time he dribbled through the Madrid defense and scored to make it 0-3, a considerable number of Madrid fans (complete with scarves and other paraphenalia indicating they were, in fact RM fans) stood up and gave Ronaldinho a standing ovation. After all the bad feelings of the last round of World Cup qualifiers, what a relief to see fans who love and appreciate the game so much, they can rise to applaud the opposing player who has just humilliated their team. I raise a cup to you, Real Madrid. And to Ronaldinho and Barca too!!!
From Marca, the Spanish football magazine... http://www.marca.es/edicion/marca/futbol/1a_division/barcelona/es/desarrollo/592844.html Ronaldino: "I am delighted by the applause in Bernabeu" "It seems to me perfect to receive this affection from the fans of our biggest rival. Few times in a career does something like that happen. I think that from Barcelona only Maradona received applause. I am delighted by the applause but I want to give satisfaction to the fans of Barcelona..."
When Ronaldinho comes to play then he is on the level of greatest of all time but his only problem is he doesnt do this day in or day out.
A round of applause for the madrid fans (as much as I hate them, lol) I've always said it: "If your team is playing against Ronaldinho, pray that he doesn't press the accelator, because he'll f..k you up" Besides madrid's fans, we always have to be proud of Ronaldinho. How many players are there that can put on a show in their enemies field and get a round of applause? Besides that, he is always smiling and showing (body language) that most of the time he's just having fun on the field. RONALDINHO, THE BEST PLAYER IN THE WORLD.
jajajaja. There goes the Madrid mentality that R.Madrid is the best team in the World. - Chelsea already made an offer. As far as I remember they offered "Whatever amount of money that Ronaldinho wanted" and Ronaldinho said no. - Ronaldinho said that he's happy in Barcelona nd hedoesn't want to go anywhere Come on, put yourself in Ronaldinho's place: You are the biggest idol in Barcelona. Why in the hell would you want to go to R. Madrid. The arch-rival of Barcelona.
was that after madrid had gone 2 seasons without a major trophy? was it at a time when real were in shambles? does ronaldinho has a $40m buyout? keep dreaming.
I was surprised to see this reaction to say the least but Ronaldinho was brilliant so it was well deserved
Well ... Figo is a jackass, Ronaldinho isn't. He could end up at Madrid one day, but I doubt he would go directly.
I love Ronaldinho, but COME ON....he left GREMIO the team that Discovered him without Gremio getting A PENNY FOR HIM! He literally SCREWED Gremio out of MILLIONS upon MILLIONS of Dollars and you think he wouldnt go to RM if a truckload of cash was sent to him?
I think even with an insane amount of money he still would not leave Barcelona. As someone mentioned earlier, why should he? Just because Figo did it does not mean Ronnie will. They're completely different players and people. By the way Figo speaks and acts both on the pitch and off, you can tell that he, as well as many other player's main interest is money. Ronaldinho loves to play for Barca and he is the club's idol. He is making history with Barca and there is a mutual appreceiation between Ronnie and the Barca fans that I feel no amount of money can ruin.
If you haven't see it yet. Oh, the applause comes from the last goal. Eto's goal Ronaldinho's goal Ronaldinho's 3rd goal
None ever played consistently great all the time. I had seen Maradona had crappy games against unknown teams. Ronaldinho is great because he is able to put on display what he did yesterday in a derby, in a world cup game, etc. He comes to the heights of the circunstance. Most of the other guys look like they suffer of stagefreight, their body won't do what their mind tell them to do. IMHO, Pele played and Ronaldinho plays for the audience, for the people that love the game and pay the ticket. Maradona played for his ego. My conclusion: Right now, Ronaldinho is King in the soccer kingdom. And a good one.
Ronaldinho was great, but regardless it's a complete joke for the so-called Real Madrid fans to applaude any players from Barcelona whatever the situation was. It's not respectable, it's just pathetic, and characterises many of the new Real Madrid fans, who started supporting the club only after the likes of Ronaldo, Zidane or Beckham joined the club. They whistle and boo in any game whenever Real is behind, call for Perez's head after each loss, even though they became "fans" thanks to Perez's decisions. There are a lot of things that are "classy" - supporting your own team regardless of the score, staying in the stadium until the end of the game and not making fun of your own players, but appluading a player from Barcelona, who single-handedly destroyed their club... that's just ridiculous.
from what i can recall, thats not true. bosman applies to the european union only. him being out of contract with gremio doesnt mean pgs didnt have to pay for him.
Man\U is still kicking himself for not putting up the extra 2 mil pounds for him imagine. Ronaldo-Rooney-Ronaldinho For the next 7-10 years.
Agreed i dont care if the Lord came down and scored anfield would still boo him if he was a evertonian. I couldnt imagine Tim Cahill scoring and recieving a standing ovation.
