Yes that's right I am actually coming to the Charge game this weekend. I'm probably going to do the subway/light-rail combination from my little perch here in University City so I have a few questions for you all: 1) How much time should I allow to get there? 2) What section do I want to sit in? 3) Can I buy tickets in said section at the stadium or do I have to do it beforehand, especially if I'm going to be paying by credit card? 4) If I wear my Freedom stuff will people beat me up?
In order, then: 1.)Since the R5 runs every half-hour on Saturdays up to about 5PM, according to http://www.septa.org/schedule.cgi?route=r5s&day=4&return=on , taking the 2:19 should get you to 'Nova by 2:45, and add a 10-minute walk. 2. South side is where both players benches are, but I think all sections have tickets available. You must be confusing us with the 700 level at the Vet...I can't make promises for August 6, however Paul (and before anyone runs off shrieking, that was only a joke...)
5) If I am going to take the El to 69th and switch to the Rt. 100 Light Rail, which is less expensive and easier for me, should I get off at "Villanova" or "Stadium"? 6) I will take your answer to the availability of tickets at the stadium and ask if there is any equivalent to RFK's Section 139, where the Freedom's supporters' club gathers, at 'Nova? 7) Do you all particularly enjoy paying $30 to sit on the south side? :O
Hey, I like this numbered question thread 5) Stadium station is your best bet and will cut your walking time by about 90 percent. 6) If you go back to that URL, they have a drop-down menu where you can get south seats for less than $30. 7) When the accursed Crusaders were here for the semifinal, they used section NB, right next to our die-hards in NC. Well since I'm contemplating coming also, is it okay if I throw a couple of questions in? 8. Does anyone know what the team hotel is? 9. Are there any nice "cheap" hotels in the area close to the stadium? 10. How bad is traffic on game days? I need to decide when to leave Cowlumbus.
8 . Charge don't have a team hotel, unfortunately. 9. The Radnor Hotel is the closest to the stadium, and they have a website (http://www.radnorhotel.com), 10. I take the train, so can't help you there...sorry. Paul
traffic varies depending on how close to game time you get there. i usually arrive an hour and a half ahead of kickoff and don't run into any traffic. but people who come closer to game time often have more trouble. the radnor hotel is the only one that is close that comes to my mind. but you could call the charge and i'm sure they would let you know what hotel the visiting team uses.
