Anyone else here watching this show on Apple TV+ starring Seth Rogen as the newly-appointed head of Continental Studios? It’s pretty funny so far (the first two episodes are already available to view as of this posting, while the remaining eight episodes will be released weekly). -G
Hooray! “‘The Studio’ Gets a Sequel: Seth Rogen Comedy Renewed at Apple TV+” (The Hollywood Reporter - Tuesday, 5/6/25) Chase Sui Wonders and Seth Rogen in ‘The Studio’ (APPLE TV+) -G
I agree. When my sister in law was here the past few weeks, she was scrolling through streaming options (we have far more streaming services than she has in New York) and it popped up. Seth Rogan? Nah, I'm good. A show about the film industry? Pass. Oh, and don't mention that idiotic show with Jon Hamm, Your Friends and Neighbors. The first episode was one of the most excruciating hours of television I have ever experienced. Also, Shrinking was terrible. Watched the first two episodes and gave up. Apple TV+ seems to have a specific audience in mind for their "comedies," and clearly I am not that audience.
Shrinking is the 3rd or 4th best show on Apple TV+. It's awkward, but it really works. The others, yeah I'm not interested in them at all.
Succession and then....? Frankly, I don't think I have found another show there I like. My six months free subscription ended last week and I am looking for a reason no to cancel. Open to suggestions.
Succession isn't one of their shows. 1. Severance 2. Slow Horses 3. Ted Lasso 4. Shrinking 5. For All Mankind That's probably my top 5 and I'd also recommend some of their miniseries like Black Bird, The Last Days of Ptolemy Gray (Sam Jackson in a really different role for him), The Crowded Room, Masters of the Air, Manhunt, and Franklin. Other series I like are Silo, Servant (best thing M. Night Shyamalan did since The Sixth Sense), Invasion, Criminal Record, Sugar, and Presumed Innocent. I am really looking forward to Murderbot.
Severance and Slow Horses were both great. Ted Lasso makes my skin crawl. Shrinking, I have commented. I will look into For All Mankind. I despised Presumed Innocent, even though I really like Jake G and am a sucker for most things set in Chicago. As a lawyer, I dislike most lawyer shows, especially ones focusing on stupidity and personal behavior.
