I don't know if any of you have seen it before but this was probably five or six years back. Actually, I know this because ESPN showed replays of it for a couple of days. This was during a Feyenoord home match. I believe Ed De Goey (sp?) was the keeper then. The incident was that a chicken somehow got into the stadium and entered the pitch area. Now I don't know if there are any farms that close to the stadium, so I have no idea how a chicken would be inside the stadium in the first place, unless somebody snuck the chicken in. This chicken was finally spotted by the keeper as he was about to kick the ball out of the box. The referee must have spotted the chicken and called for somebody to remove it before play would resume. I think the circumstance was that Feyenoord was down a goal or was tied and they needed a tally before time was up, so that's why the keeper didn't waste time and just ran over quickly towards the far corner of the pitch, grabbed the chicken and threw it over the fence. I think this happened before the stadium underwent renovations because there was some terracing behind the fence. Well, you could imagine what would happen when you mix a bunch of uncivilized, drunken fools and a chicken. Needless to say, the chicken got the worse of it. I bring this up because I assume that some of you guys can back me up on the chicken story. Like I said, ESPN showed a clip of the keeper throwing the chicken over the fence. Trust me, I'm not BSing you. Maybe somebody would find the keeper throwing the chicken over.
We've had several of these 'incidents'... Den Haag fans unleashed a few chickens on the pitch one or two years ago as well. So I don't think that video will be easy to find. These things happen and are forgotten quite soon.
