It's not as if anybody else would need the stadium. If the city won't help them out with the debts, they will hardly outright buy the stadium instead. And besides governments and people wanting to put something else there, there isn't much of a market for used football stadia :D.

Yes but it has happened several times in england that other companies buys the stadia, and controls the running (focuses solely on the running) istead of the club.

Kaiserslautern sold their stadium to the city when they had their financial problems 10 years ago.

In England you might actually be able to make money from this. But if your only tennant can't pay the running costs of the thing as it is right now, and goes down to the Regionalliga with reduced crowds to boot (and besides Alemannia Aachen games and maybe the occasional concert, there isn't much you can do there to actually make money), that doesn't sound like the best investment for a company. See also: the stadium in Leipzig, which is privately owned and was a huge loss maker (despite generous state subsidies) until they got Red Bull into the city.

Yeah, and Eintracht Braunschweig sold the stadium to the city in the early 80s. The main reason to buy a stadium is to save the club. In Aachen's case the club is in trouble partially because the city wants money back they loaned them to finance the thing in the first place. The club on the other hand actually wants to be able to play in the stadium for free. So, I don't see how it would benefit the city taking over a possible white elephant and trusting that Alemannia someday might be able to pay enough rent for the city not to lose anymore money on this.

The city already did take over the stadium. It isn't Alemannia's property anymore, there is a Tivoli-Stadiongesellschaft as the new owner; the city of Aachen, the Aachener-Muenchener insurance company, and some share of the club. The club has to pay a rent now.

The club still owns the stadium - however, I was indeed wrong insofar as the club does indeed has to pay rent now since winter. However, the new company which is partially owned by the city and the insurance company, was founded to pay back money to the banks on time, while the club only has to pay to the company now (so the debts with the banks will be payed back even if Alemannia can't pay). As long as the club does't fold, this doesn't change who owns the stadium, though.

As of late February, Alemannia was still owner of the stadium and there doesn't seem to have been any change since then (the Stadiongesellschaft was founded in November already):

Jena's stadium has been closed due to severe structural damages. The club is obviously in trouble, since they are without a stadium now.

Its sad that the club is in danger because of a natural disaster.

LSK's (you can ignore the Hansa thing, that's just a gimmick nobody uses). And the club will have to move somewhere else, possibly out of town. They most likely won't play in any real stadium anymore, though.

Lüneburg will play in the town of Bardowick from April on, a bit north of Lüneburg (Bardowick used to be an important town in the early middle ages, but for a few hundred years there hasn't been much going on there I suppose).
