Ehhh, except for Porro none of our starting defenders are out there. Not surprised goals are being conceded.
It's not necessarily the defenders, it's the way we play, it is so easy to counter attack against us. The second half looked like the running of the bulls and that wasn't exactly a star laden team we were playing.
Not really 'Spurs news', technically, but I've just dreamt last night that Spurs conceded 19 to Newcastle in a friendly. The good news is: Skipp pulled one back. Results mean nothing in friendlies, but I was pretty sure that wasn't good.
Beginning to see why Brighton were more than happy to get rid of him: https://www.theguardian.com/football/article/2024/aug/12/yves-bissouma-tottenham-nitrous-oxide-video
Always injured? He had one bad knee injury that took a long time for recovery. Hope he smashes it with Leeds, so we can ultimately sell him.
Bentancur has been given a 4-game international ban for his part in that post-match brawl following the Colombia-Uruguay semifinal at Copa America. That means he will miss the first two international windows and get some much-needed rest.
Carabao Cup 3rd round, away at Coventry. Banana skin written all over it. Game is week of September 16.
We did beat them 3-0 at the Lane in the FA Cup the last time we played them. There was a time when we used to torch lower-division sides in the Cups.
Europa League league stage draw today! Our 8 opponents are going to be: Home: Roma, AZ, Qarabag, Elfsborg Away: Rangers, Galatasaray, Ferencvaros, Hoffenheim. Schedule is released tomorrow.
Qarabag away was always the nightmare tie, due to the distance to Azerbaijan. So luckily we got them at home. We played them in a Europa group in 2015/6, winning home and away.
We have a history with Rangers having used to play them in pre season friendlies back in the sixties. I don't think we'll have any trouble qualifying for the later rounds.
Yeah, considering 24 of the 36 teams in the league progress, it would be a massive screw up for us not to.
I was at the Lane for the home leg. 3-1, Son, Son, and Lamela - Sonny's first goals for the club. Highlights of the night: saying hi to Clive Allen ... shaking hands* with Chirpy. I'll be in that London the first week of November and there's a Europa match on the Thursday. Fingers crossed we're home that night ... though I'll definitely go to Ibrox if I can get a ticket should that be the fixture. Hell, I might go to Ibrox regardless, if they're home. I've always wanted to do Ibrox and I'll be at Spurs/Ipswich on the Sunday anyway. Hmmm ... looking forward to seeing the fixtures tomorrow. *he actually has hands. Honest.
Batfarts! Spurs and Rangers both away on 7 Nov. ... West Brom's at home in the Championship, though. ... new ground!
