It's not Kane's departure that worries me, it's the players who stayed. We went out of the League Cup to Forest and our lot did not turn up. We went out of the FA Cup to Sheffield Utd and our lot did not turn up. In 2022 we went out of the FA Cup to Middlesborough and our lot did not turn up. In 2019 we went out to Colchester Utd in the League Cup and our lot did not turn up. We haven't won the League Cup since 2008 We haven't won the FA Cup since 1991. We have previous in not turning up for cup games. When it comes to Spurs in the cups, I'll go with the evidence.
We've had plenty of decent Cup performances over the recent years. Golara's right that there have been some abject ones as well, but generally speaking, there's no evidence-based reason to think a poor one any more likely vs a lower division side than an acceptable one. ... But there is definitely evidence that we're not immune to it!
We could not even advance out of the group stage of the Eurotrash League. We have been abysmal in the cups for a long time now. The time when we were a Cup Team has long past. You can make all the pithy comments you want, but these are the facts and they are undisputed.
I'm disputing them. So they're not. By definition. Frankly, it's not really going all that far out on a limb to suggest that we might just have a fighting chance in the League Cup against the mighty Fulham.
The solution is to bring in players who aren't infected with whatever malaise has been causing players to not GAF about the cup and European matches. We've made a good start to that.
Son will be club captain this season. Great choice. Hadnt really thought about it, but we lost our captain and vice-captain over the summer.
He wasn't on the pitch but he was on the bench, in the stadium. I said it a bit tongue in cheek jumhead as it's far to early yet to judge.
If we ever wondered what West Ham would play like if they had a decent attack, now we know. Going to be a goaltastic season at both ends.
Sonny named captain with Maddison and Romero vice-captains. Last year the infamous Leadership Group was Kane, Lloris, Dier and Hojbjerg. One has left and the other 3 could be out the door by the window's end. This is AP showing the group who's boss.
Why wait so long? I like Son and often thought that he was more useful on the pitch than Harry was but, being subbed off in your first match as skipper doesn't bode well.
He has been subbed off by many managers, like many players. As the French would say, you are looking for noon at 2 o'clock.
Haha! It was still on target so it's been given to him. Hell, the Prem gave him the goal when the ball skimmed his hair against Stoke from an Eriksson punt. I remember Vialli scoring for Chelsea from the ball hitting his ass.
Perhaps but it's still an opposition assist isn't it? The keeper might have had it covered and then wrong footed. Brentford's was a deflection so it was an own goal, so was Kane's, an own goal because it touched a Bremen defender last.
