Mourinho favours Winks over him. Dele can certainly do a lot more than Winks. It would look more like a loan, I don't see us getting a great fee for him with him not playing. Hopefully this will not turn into a Salah or De Bruyne situation. We are doing well, but there have been too many lackluster performances (including Sunday) for my liking. It would be nice to have a rejuvenated Dele in the team.

London has gone back into tier 3 which means no fans for the time being. Sad but in a way funny as all the Arsenal and West Ham supporters who were expecting to go to their grounds this mid-week are SOL. Insert Nelson HA-HAA from the Simpsons here.

Sonny has won the Puskas award for his goal against Burnley last season.

In case you need a reminder

Also Son's phone call with the player who assisted his goal just made my damn day.

To be fair, Verts has done most of the heavy lifting on that goal.

The League Cup semifinals have been drawn, and we've got Brentford at home. This will be a one-legged affair this year, as they've reduced it in order to ease the fixture congestion that's so affecting this season. Get by them* and we'll meet the winner of Man Utd v Man City.

    *not presumed ...

    ... obviously ...

Christian Gross has been hired at Schalke.

To say they've been struggling recently is putting it very mildly.

Any team that hires Christian Gross has to be struggling.

Oh, they're struggling, all right. Four points from 39 on offer? Winless. Rooted to the bottom of the table.

Schalke, even! It's a massive club.

Gareth Bale out for a few weeks with a calf injury. This is looking like a dud of a signing, Daniel Levy's eyes were once again bigger than his stomach. Clearly the Welshman was never in shape for the rigors of a PL campaign and Jose never fancied him from the beginning. The money would have been better spent on a play-making midfielder, the one key element we are missing in the side at the minute.

Call it the Tottenham Ex-Manager Curse. A lot of people look at our club as a stepping stone for bigger things. It may be the case for players, but certainly not for managers.

Looking at our ex-managers since Christian was axed in 1998:

Christian Gross: had a good 10-year run with Basel which included 4 league titles and 2 Europa League runs, but the biggest club he has managed since was Stuttgart where he was sacked early in his 2nd season there.

George Graham: out of management since getting the sack in 2001

Glenn Hoddle: 2 mediocre seasons with Wolves followed, out of management since 2006

Jacques Santini: after he mysteriously resigned in 2004, managed Auxerre for one season, out of management since 2006.

Martin Jol: after being unceremoniously sacked by Levy and undermined by the real-life incarnation of Grima Wormtongue, Daniel Comolli, Jol went on to manage Hamburg, Ajax and Fulham, where he enjoyed a measure of revenge against Levy by guiding the Cottagers to a 1-0 victory at WHL which ultimately cost us CL qualification in the 2012-13 season. He has been out of management since 2016.

Juande Ramos: after a dumpster-fire start to the 2008-09 season, Ramos walked the Levy plank, before being hired by Real Madrid, where he was once again proven out of his depth when Barca strolled to a 6-2 win at the Bernabeu. Since then he has managed CSKA Moscow, Dnipro and Malaga. Out of management since 2016.

Harry Redknapp: after calling out Levy in the summer of 2012, after the Spurs chairman had backed him in his income-tax evasion trial, Uncle 'Arry was given the Levy Chop. Since Spurs, he presided over the clown car that was QPR for 3 seasons, was bizarrely hired by the Jordanian national team and was last seen in management at Birmingham City in 2016.

AVB: after riding the coattails of Gareth Bale in his first season, the Portuguese would not survive 6-0 and 5-0 losses to Man City and Liverpool respectively and was sacked in December 2013. Since then he has managed Zenit, Shanghai and is currently applying his 4-3-3 and high defensive line at Marseille.

Tim Sherwood: Tactics Tim was given the reins in 2013 when Levy couldn't get any of his favoured targets to come to the club. The only person who didn't seem to know he was going to get the sack at the end of the 2013-14 season was Sherwood himself. Since Spurs, he has managed the Villa, where he saved them from relegation in 2015, but was sacked early in the 2015-16 season. He was then appointed director of football at Swindon Town - not surprisingly, they got relegated to League 2 and Sherwood got the boot in 2017, where he has been out of management ever since.

Our 4th round tie will be away to Wycombe Wanderers and if we get by that, we would play Everton or Sheffield Wednesday away in the 5th round.

Man U and Liverpool were drawn together in round 4!

We had a cracker of a tie against Wycombe in 2017, Sonny scoring a late-late stoppage-time winner to avoid a replay. Since then, they have climbed from League 2 to the Championship, but are currently bottom.

Wednesday had a belter against Wycombe in 2012. Just short of 40k at Hillsborough for a 3rd tier (League 1) season-ender that saw the Owls secure automatic promotion to the Championship. Proper bigtime football atmosphere.

... y'know ... on the chance the 4th round has some upsets.

If I'm honest, Everton were lucky to get by Rotherham, the visitors were the better side and Ancelotti had that famous eyebrow on overdrive.

Sheffield Wednesday v Tottenham at Hillsborough has football written all over it.

Yeah, it does. I would absolutely be looking at airfares right now if it weren't for ... well, you know.
