Zonal Marking has an article on Peter Crouch http://www.zonalmarking.net/2010/10/15/peter-crouch-headers/
I have alway been saying that he was effective in the air simply by his height. It doesn't have to be pretty heading but when you have a tall guy like Crouch. With at least 5 inches above most tall top central defender in the world, it's a difficult height difference to make up when he is hardly jumping and almost impossible to complete when he is jumping. Find me a video where a defender right next to him and has outjumped him. Some people wouldn't bother to some of the crossed balls because they know they wouldn't jump to met it anyway but it would be in Crouch's height reach and therefore some are uncontested. I alway like seeing goalkeepers and defenders looking at each other afterwards thinking "how are we suppose to stop that?" Of course the best chance would have been pressing on the crosser because it would be too late to try and outmark Crouch in the air. Besides his heading and famous right foot, Crouch is hopeless on the left foot to shoot. Until he is able uses his left foot more to score, he would not a complete box striker that he desires to be.
Someone as coy as Ole 'Arry cannot possibly think that Rooney will actually come to Spurs, so I refuse to take his remarks on face level. It is more likely that he is attempting to get Spurs name in the news as a possible destination for Rooney (He did this with Joe Cole too when it seemed obvious that we weren't going to meet his wage demands). The point of this is that while it looks a bit ridiculous and sort of tacky right now, down the road, all people will remember is that Spurs are the kind of club that gets mentioned as a possible destination for players like that (hopefully). I think it is possible that in combination with a study diet of winning, this can be an effective strategy to increase the prestige of the club.
Bale and VdV feeding him passes or Anderson and Bebe? can certainly see why he wants to move on elsewhere. Nailed on Man City in England, or Real if he's desperate for a fresh start abroad.
The thing about Rooney is that he is a good enough player that is played in a number of suspect positions that underutilizes his potential. So often he has played for the team but the team has not often played for him. He is a goalscorer first and foremost ad he has not allow that freedom to play as such for a relatively long time. What no wonder that the future at Man Utd does not look great for him if he has to do some donkey work in the deep for players who are so simply are too lazy to do the same for him. He can and want to score goals, not messing around deep and to the side and making long sweeping runs for no reward. I understand where is he coming from. When you have too many stars in the team, all you have are a bunch of stars not reaching to their potential because they are forced to play as a team with less flair. For another example, the Real Madrid team. BTW he is 24 years old and after been in the Man Utd set up for a long time, it's a good idea to move on. He is probably feeling a bit stale being there for that long time.
anyone hear about liverpool potentially bidding for crouch? interesting, but probably inaccurate........ http://www.givemefootball.com/premier-league/liverpool-prepare-to-launch-shock-bid-to-bring-bac also, damien comolli is director of football strategy at liverpool.. http://www.epltalk.com/what-the-henry-beane-comolli-connection-means-for-roy-hodgson-26290 i figured no one would ever hire him again in engerland
I hope this isnt just PR... http://soccernet.espn.go.com/news/story?id=838787&sec=england&cc=5901 Bale emulating Giggs as a 1-club Welshman? Modric on transfer rumours:
Kranjcar said he will consider leaving if he is not given more playing time with Liverpool being 1 of this preferred place. I personally will be really disappointed if we are selling him to Liverpool. If we are selling, please sell him to other countries instead.
i hope he stays with spurs and rides the bench..he has been playing great for the national team the last 3 games..i think not playing for his club gives him greater motivation to play well for his country.. modric had a good game today..even unleashed a really good shot that hit the post..corluka really had nothing to do as malta mustered maybe 3 attacks the whole game..

Rumor... but Vancouver's CEO is Paul Barber, former executive director at Spurs. So, the likelihood of easy communication is there. http://www.vancouversun.com/sports/...ing+Tottenham+Keane+Report/3894401/story.html
