This passed me by, but nice to see an English manager have success in Australia and in Asian confederation competition. Pretty unprecedented as well.

While he probably would not be able to save their World Cup hopes he surely could get them to AFCON in a very easy qualifying group of four teams where the other three have not been at the recent tournaments and the top 2 qualify.

I’m not sure what he would be like nowadays. Feels like the options for international managers for a lot of nations is quite slim.

Wuite a big move for him.

Do wonder who how they fanbase will take it considering there is a lot of anger at them becoming a feeder club for Chelsea through.

    Quote from the article.

Paul Fernie, Sporting Director of Darmstadt who were in the Bundesliga last season, reckons not having B teams is a hindrance in developing managers.

Really want Southampton to succeed because of how many English players they've got but Russell Martin is soon gonna have to accept he's been incredibly naive to think he wouldn't have to change his style in the PL. Thomas Frank realised he had to do it so I hope Martin is wise enough.

Would it help though? They've bought pretty well but they still have one of the weakest squads in the league, so I think he'll have an uphill struggle however they play.

I think they've got a decent amount of quality, their team is just very young which is tough for a relegation battling side. They need to integrate some of their new midfielders because I don't think Smallbone and Aribo are up to it at this level.

Seems like Martin is a fan of Dibling, which is good news if nothing else. He looks like he'll have a shot at establishing himself this season.

RM saw how Kompany was awarded for being suicidally insistent in his playing style

Seems unlikely that RM will get a job like Bayern next!

Sean Dyche tipped to be replaced by Abel Ferreira if Everton’s takeover goes through. If it happens would mean only two English managers in the PL.

Had to google who he is :ninja:. Wouldn’t surprise me with these foreign owners replacing English managers with odd appointments.
