Is everyone else assuming that Benitez will be our manager? Its just a waiting game at this point, but I think Benitez will be coming. Is this the impression everyone else is getting?

  3. Parry, in an interview he conducted today with BBC from Barbados, says that no action has yet been taken regarding Houllier's successor. Hard to beleive, IMO, but that's today's news . . .

Don't assume anything yet about Benitez, I guess.

according to MARCA (spanish sports paper, you can translate it with babelfish, Valencia is offerring Benitez more control of transfers so he stays with the club. I guess it will be a coinflip on whether he stays with Valencia or leaves for Liverpool. Might as well prepare yourself for dissapointment when Liverpool get someone like Curbishley.

Marca is the semi-official house organ for Real Madrid. This belongs in the tabloid lies thread as I'm sure its been put out by Valencia to defend itself if and when Benitez leaves.

  6. More on the Valencia intrigue--plus rumours, lies, etc. about players' preferences for the new manager, and a completely unsubstantiated remark about MO'N being completely out of the running (never even considered by the board.) First ran in the Independent, then picked up on the Club's officially unofficial "Mediawatch" section:

    BBC is reporting the same.

Incredible coup for Liverpool if and when we get him.

Mourihno's defensive let's win 1-0 style would not have gone over well after the Houllier era.

Benitez brings a lot more flair and despite my misgivings as to Houllier's departure this seems to an excellent move by Parry.

It seems that Parry new what he was doing all along. I think he made an offer to Benitez a couple of weeks ago and gave him a certain amount of time to make up his mind, confident that Benitez would accept the offer. Beneitiz gave Valencia the chance to convince him to stay, and they failed. Good job by Parry, because now it looks like he got his man.

I'll wait until I see them smiling together on TV, signing the papers.

Reports that Benitez has been buying copies of "Lern Yerself Scouse" have yet to be confirmed.

bentiez's style isnt exactly flair, in fact he's just as much a fan of 1-0 as mouinho.
i have been a keen admirer of la liga four 3 yrs and he gets his team disciplined, hardworking, and working for eachother. he also believes success is built on a strong back 4.
his teams dont bring all that amount of flair, but solidity and success!!
i also follow r.madrid + this is g8 news for them

  18. FWIW, Soccernet is reporting that Mourhino is going to Chelsea, Benitez (probably) to Liverpool, and Ranieri may be going back to Valencia.

    Exactamundo...!

Or and I think GH felt more like this.

If you can keep your head when all about you
Are losing theirs and blaming it on you,
If you can trust yourself when all men doubt you,
    But make allowance for their doubting too;
If you can wait and not be tired by waiting,
Or being lied about, don't deal in lies,
Or being hated, don't give way to hating,
And yet don't look too good, nor talk too wise:
