Koeman most likely will end being the "Oranje bondscoach" after this Worldcup. So who should be on our wishlist?
https://www.liverpoolecho.co.uk/spo...ws/liverpool-arne-slot-andoni-iraola-34068288 Van der Kraan suggested Slot could soon take on a very different challenge as Netherlands manager following the World Cup. The journalist indicated Slot would be "very much up for that" and that he is "probably the ideal candidate." Koeman's deal runs out after the World Cup and his future will likely depend on how the Dutch perform in North America. They have been placed in Group F alongside Japan, Sweden and Tunisia.
I’m hearing Slot is a strong possibility to be next although he’s obviously going to be linked to other jobs as well. He reportedly turned down Fulham which would be a smart move on his part, and also strongly mentioned at AC Milan who I also think might be best to pass on as they’re somewhat unstable. Regarding the Oranje job it doesn’t help much that the KNVB is not the greatest with their decision making over my lifetime as a supporter. At least that’s my opinion. Not sure what Nigel De Jong is thinking or doing about much.
Well, I've commented a few times, but Peter Bosz is high on my list to replace Koeman -- although it's becoming increasingly unlikely after KNBV publicly said he has not seriously been considered so Bosz opted to extend his contract at PSV to 2028 Bosz is a proven serial winner... he knows how to get job done! His tactical style has grown over the years since a few rough starts (Leverkusen, Lyon). His ultra-attacking, high-pressing, short-passing, possession-based style fits with the Dutch total football philosophy. (Unlike Koeman) Bosz is very adaptable... e.g. Schouten is a perfect example where he thrives at CB/DM combo, then also Til to ST, Mauro Jr. to LWB, etc. I think Bosz' ability and patience to groom young talents (which is very important as the Dutch NT have a handful of generational talent like Kees Smit) could be useful. He may not necessarily be the most consistent one, but he certainly got the most out of Gakpo, Simons, Bakayoko, Tillman, etc. I thought while at Ajax he was also somewhat responsible to elevate De Ligt and Frenkie (my memory may be failing me here!) Arne Slot would be second on my list.... Not that I am complaining, but I'd be questioning his ambition if he takes over Dutch NT at this moment. Feels like he could be learning and growing in the day-to-day club managerial role. I thought his recent dismissal was very harsh (he was dealt with brutal injuries throughout the season and unhappy Salah). If I were him, I'd be itching to go to another club to prove myself Maybe Ten Haag is an option? But he just made an interesting choice to become technical director at Twente... not sure why he left the coaching role in a hurry.
107 Maybe Sarina Wiegman becomes available... Sarina Wiegman suffered a painful defeat with the national team of England on Friday evening. On a visit to Spain, it was 4-0 for the Spaniards. An unprecedented loss for the Albion Lionesses.
One thing about Slot, he's obsessed with football, drinks it, eats it , dreams about it.... No way he would be less than obsessed managing the Orange Squad
Slot would be excellent at Oranje now. Very raw deal at Liverpool which could be going the wrong way with some dysfunctional management and players left in his wake. Liverpool had Very poor recruitment spending loads of money ask on highly overrated Isak & Wirtz among others. The Salah nonsense should have been handled by the Club, but it really turned out to be a major issue, and undermined Slot badly. He was also the victim of not having enough quality players to count on. Injuries to several players throughout the season took its toll, but a very poor decision in my opinion from the Club.
So, hope Nigel de Jong's eyes were wide open to see how he fokked up with keeping donkey head in charge of the Orange Squad.
No kidding. I was looking through a transfer rumour website and in just four days, Liverpool was linked to around 20 players! Seems like they are going for a wholesale revamp. Hopefully Dutch players will leave that place and find more stable environments.
This is a difficult decision since being a manager of a NT is far different from running a club team. You have the NT players for short periods of time even before tournaments such as the Euros or the WC. You need to meld a bunch of players into your system when they might not have played that way during the club season. It was different years ago when all the Dutch players were used to 4-3-3 and could slot into the NT with ease. Things are different today. For me the most important thing is for the manager to have a coherent vision of how the team should play and stick to it. Any prospective manager will be looking at the available players and think, do I have enough talent to win against the best. I'm sure that is what Guardiola would consider. At the club level, he is used to getting top talent to fill gaps. You cannot do that at the NT level. For this reason, I don't think he takes the job. Of those on the above list, I think Klopp or Slot could be solid choices. Doubtful that Klopp would take the job.
Erik ten Hag was great in Ajax. But, in Man Utd everything was toxic, a lot of negative energy. So, the impression is that he is bad manager. Now, Ajax atmosphere seems bad. Managers should avoid negative atmosphere in clubs or NT. At the moment, it’s good to avoid Tottenham, Chelsea, Liverpool What about Dick Advocaat? Curacao is happy with him I guess? My desire is Erik ten Hag But he must invite Frimpong, Xavi Simons, De Ligt, Schouten, Timber. Too bad that you lost Dean Huijsen.
None of the former national team's players at the moment please. I would go for Guardiola if he agrees it is worth to try Pep; he is not Dutch but he follows Cruyff's philosophy and has hD many successes. Next best choice is Slot and he is the #1 choice (he is Dutch, available and has a better reputation than the rest of Dutch managers.
I don't think KNVB can pay Guardiola and the material is also not of a level to offset this. Someone who is used to the oiled machine of Bayern and City does not want to deal with Nigel de Jong. I hope it is not Michael Reiziger.
If they can appoint someone with one year of experience as an assistant for a reserve team, any possible candidate is in the mix!! You all know who I mean.
