And guess what ... The President and CEO of Hall Equities Group, Mark Hall, is pursuing a #USL franchise in the Oakland East Bay area. Hall intends to develop a 15,000 seat soccer-specific stadium for @USL2EastBay. Already off to a more promising start that most. But the Burlingame guys wanted their own stadium too and we know how that ended. Still, the conservative schedule, East Bay location (in a general sense, we still have to see where they plan to actually build), SSS plan... definitely a good start.
He is building sports complex in Walnut Creek per the press release I linked, but the description of this project really sounds like it's meant for the heart of the East Bay to fill a pro sports void.
Interesting. Though he does seem to keep mentioning Oakland and it's pending loss of most of, if not all of, its sports teams. If he's really a NorCal guy he knows Walnut Creek isn't Oakland. That said, Walnut Creek could work, if placed on the BART line.
Damn, that would be crazy. Walnut Creek is my home town. Either way I am juiced as hell about this. For me, Oakland always seemed like more of a soccer city than San Francisco. Just a personal feeling, nothing really to back it up.
and here we go . . . http://claycord.com/2018/01/26/deve...8000-seat-soccer-stadium-in-downtown-concord/
I heard a rumor this USL team in Oakland will be starting sooner than 2021. Anyone know if there is truth to this? USL East Bay (2021)
Yes, been reading about it here and on USL site for quite awhile now. Don't forget to consider that Chicago is supposed to get one I think in 2020 or 2021 too.
I am eagerly awaiting more information on this. Last I heard the team would either be somewhere in Concord, or around Oracle Arena in Oakland.

We'll see. I can't see a team with a stadium on the island having as much appeal as they think it will.
