I was going to put this in my PF but it has broader appeal: New Rome is going out of the extortion business. Yes, New Rome, that nationally recognized speed trap on the West side of Columbus that consists of about 60 people but takes in $200,000 a year through "Mayors' Court", has just been legislated out of business. http://wcpo.com/news/2003/local/06/04/speed.html
Couldn't happen to a nicer bunch of dirtbags. Like Dukes of Hazzard without the farms, car chases, winding country roads, or a sexy Daisy in cut-offs, etc. As an east-sider, I couldn't understand why all of my west-side friends steered my nine-miles off course to avoid going through there. You would think there was a plutonium mine or something there... Good riddance.
good thing i just got my '73 camaro tuned up. anybody wanna go drag race me through new rome for pinks?
I think once the mayor's court officially goes away in three months, I think there will be plenty of people who will take you up on the offer. But I wouldn't go through there until mayor's court is dissolved. I think patrols will be even tighter during the next 90 days.
