We face Ghana on Saturday. If we win that game, we'd play the winner of Uruguay v S. Korean on July 2nd. Win that, and we're into the semi-finals.

Of the four teams in our part of the bracket, we're the strongest.

GO USA! We can do this!

I think we are going to go and do so easily.

Ease past Ghana and beat South Korea/Uruguay. I'm hoping it's South Korea.

I don't think it will be easy, but I do think it's very doable.

S.Korea and Uruguay will NOT be easy games for us. Uruguay has a very good defense and their strikers are much better than ours. If they score on us first, I don't think we can come back from it. Korea, although still a tough team, I think we'd do much better with them. So here's to hoping its Korea.

What do you mean, wrong? Of USA, Ghana, S. Korea and Uruguay, I have no doubt that we're the best team. Now whether or not we can actually get past Ghana then the winner of S. Korea v Uruguay is another matter. Like I said, it's doable. Given a choice of the potential teams we ended up with, we got pretty lucky.

Show me were I said it could be done "with ease."

The US has played well and deserved to finish top of the group. The route to the semi-final is considerably easier than if you had finished second. I would not be surprised to see your team get there. Way to go USA.

Our road is considerably easier than England's.

Given a choice of Germany, then the winner of Argentina v Mexico or Ghana, then the winner of S. Korea v Uruguay, it's a no-brainer to figure out that we've got the better chance.

All 3 are as good as the US. Maybe Korea the weakest.

I can't see which of the 3 is clearly inferior.

The only area the US has been better then Ghana is their finishing. Everywhere else Ghana are very good and on another day could have beaten Germany.

That seems to be pretty f*cking important to be better than them in the area that helps you win the game.

This Uruguayan team is pretty good. That said, I'm glad we won the group, and have an easier draw than the Three Kittens.

Ghana's only scored from the spot in this tournament, whereas we've scored 4 (6) goals. Also, we fell to Ghana on a suspect penalty in Germany. Therefore, in my mind, the USA is better, hungrier, and will beat Ghana - and frankly, a loss is unacceptable, at least to me.

After that, anything is possible - we'd be luckier to play South Korea but they wouldn't be a much easier draw than Uruguay. If it's Uruguay I think we fall to them, if it's South Korea I think it's a toss-up, but I just said anything is possible, so you shouldn't take my word for it. ;)

I think the two sides of this argument are getting caught up over some language. There is a difference between "easier" and "easy".

Our side of the bracket is "easier". But this is the World Cup, there are no "easy" games.****

i think we will win against Ghana. If we play Uruguay in quaterfinals we have no chance. Before Group A was finalized on Dec 4,2009 I had Uruguay in semis they will beat us. If somehow south korea beat Uruguay semis here we come

I will say it again, watch Ghana play Germany today and tell me if the USA could do better.

while I am not looking past ghana, South Korea play very strong as a team. Deigo Forlan for Uruguay is just freaking scary from distance (our weakness). I still love our chances. I won't say it would be a disappointment to not make the semifinal, but we have a shot. That is all we can ask for. Anything can happen.

Ghana were excellent against Germany today so where you get this notion you are a superior team, god knows.

Most of us also think we are a superior team to England. And have the top of Group C standings to back it up.

    :)

I watched most of that game, actually, and Ghana was very good. But like I said, they've only scored from the spot. I'd have more respect for them if they had scored during the run of play.

Well if that makes you happy keep believing it.

I doubt you were thinking that when the USA were 2-0 down to Slovenia at half time.

England took Slovenia apart the entire game.
