You could see who he wanted to go through when he initially didn't award the penalty which happened right in front of him. Every major competition comes a game in which a big footballing country gets a push and you have to be perfect to negate it. Also, there are small things: did England, Germany, Italy, France or Spain play at 3pm? Croatia did. It's all geared up towards the same teams every time and those small things add up.

He didn't waive off penalty claims. Asked VAR right away. We don't know if he saw it clearly. Slow motion replays were needed probably. I don't think there was any conspiracy.

Dumb mistake like the one Gvardiol in 98th minute should have been avoided. Same loss of concentration happened vs Albania.

Croatia didn't "deserve" to go through based on football showed. And Perisic shouldn't have hoofed the ball forward in the last minute. But after seeing Pitana in 2018 and Orsato in 2022 basically decide the games by themselves I am a little bit more skeptical about refereeing standards against smaller and bigger nations.

This to me was more shocking than any alleged decisions that didn't go Croatia's way. This is Bosnia-Herzegovina-Nigeria at the World Cup 2014. Dzeko scores from this action and the referee decides its offside. Nigeria goes on to score a goal (from a fault btw) and progress to the round of 16. Then at the end of the game, the referee is seen celebrating Nigeria's win with their goalkeeper.

Switzerland scores the exact same goal from the exact same position against Hungary at this Euro, it is also given offside but then correctly given as a goal by VAR.

BEIN counted the time wasted and it was 7:35 or 7:45, so you round up and get your 8. Don't think that's what outdid Croatia here though. Two late goals back to back games and a game vs. Spain that they should have gotten a point in if they finished their chances.

Just seconds away from my prediction of Italy being the disappointment of the tournament coming true.

    Soy muy triste.

Spain should start David Raya going forward; he's better than Unai.

The referees partner is Italian and It was obvious yesterday that something wasn't right.

Budimir is a big guy and defender's were just falling at every touch and the ref just went with it for the whole second half. They didn't need to defend against the only guy who was a problem for their defence.

Worst ref in the tournament by a mile.

Still, we're awful and din't deserve to get a result. It is what it is..

Well yeah I agree partially but that is not plus 8 minutes otherwise eveysingle game would have plus 8 minutes then. Every game against Getafe would have plus 24 if you were to add up every second the ball wasn't in play. There was a 1 minute var check and a few subs so 5 would have been sufficient and fair

Celebrated like I never celebrated a goal before. It was just me and this one other Croatian guy in a sea of Italy fans and he told me his girlfriend broke up with him 20 minutes before the game and he entered alone and he didnt even care as long as we won. We were gonna go out to celebrate after but then they scored and we were both heartbroken and he was on the verge of tears. Genuinely felt horrible

I am hoping Bellingham, Guler, Ronaldo and Pepe can do Modric and Croatia a favour by getting the results needed. A lot of City and Cule losers on social media were hate watching and celebrating yesterday just because RM legend Modric plays for Croatia.

City clowns were bashing Modric when it was Gvardiol who made the risky mistake in 98th minute.

Barcola is a good addition to the lineup. Much more dynamic than Thuram. Midfield still stinks, but at least Rabiot won't partake in the attack like last game

The French midfield is so static. I can't understand why Deschamps doesn't play Camavinga. At least have someone that can dribble and break a line.

This is Kylian or Ousmane hero ball. Give it to them and then stand around and watch

Nice link up between Mbappe and Barcola, but both kinda got in the way after that.

France is about to have completed 5 halves in this tournament, 225 minutes plus extra time, without scoring a single goal

Only Germany has been creative among big teams in this edition. And Portugal to an extent.

Just a collection of excellent individuals who just can not perform as a team. Same as England.
