Spurs never won anything so Kane being "awesome" for them is irrelevant. Yeah he was "awesome" in getting them 4th place in the league, that's it.
You seem hurt. Benzema is the 2nd highest scorer in RM history and highest in assists. Only greats start for that long at RM let alone have the stats.
Yea right. I watched 2005 version as summer tournament and can't remember who won it without Googling now. Everyone who saw Euro 2004 knows Greece won it. If football fans cared about it, that tournament would still exist.
Sometimes it's not about the goals or we might as well bin all the midfielders. Ruiz bossed that midfield every single game. He was absolutely awesome and deserved the MVP award. We can at least agree that Rodri did not deserve it
Top scorer in the league and averaging 30 goals per season. Look, pre-Bayern, Kane was a beast, one of the best strikers in the world, has nothing on prime Benz but who did?
When have UEFA and FIFA ever cared about what football fans care about? It's not because no one cared about it that the Confederations Cup was scrapped otherwise it wouldn't have lasted from 1992 all the way until 2017.
No one cares if Kane scored goals against the Fulhams, Leicester Citys and Stoke Citys of this world, at the end of the day he still has a tremendously successful trophyless career so far.
Viewership was poor hence broadcasters weren't paying much. All due to lack of interest from the masses just like CWC. Only difference was CWC was every season.
Great final! Second half was super exciting and of high quality, or as this thread would describe it "everyone was complete shit."
Zubimendi in 2nd half: Accurate passes : 24/26 (92%) Chances created: 1 Tackles won: 2/3 Ground duels won: 5/5 Excellent job coming in for Rodri. Glad Barca couldn't get him so far.
@Minduchio congrats on being the only person to pick the Euros 2024 winner correctly in this poll! Legend.
I missed the poll but otherwise I would have picked Spain as well, it was just way too obvious that they would win it.
It's not really that simple. For one, I think Mbappe is going to very quickly dispel the idea that Jude is the best or 2nd best player in the world or even in the conversation. Another thing is what about guys like Dani Olmo, I mean he plays for Red Bull so its not like its fair to use "trophies" won as an argument. He scored in the R16, QF's and Semi Finals and in the final he made the goal line save to secure the win and title for his team. He definitely deserves a shout, even if its a long shot. Carvajal could win it because he so dynamic, basically playing two positions at one time in a double winning Madrid team.
Happy england didnt win only because im hoping one day my son will play for them and thats when i want them to win a major trophey, so hopefully in another 8-10 years or so lol If he doesnt make it then hope england win something as these years keep racking up Also england need a player who will bring that excitement like williams was doing for spain. The squad is decent just dont have that one exciting player..well they do but you dont see it. England were so slow against spain compared against holland.
Im just hoping someone from madrid wins it so that only madrid or barca players have won the balon dor since like 2009..what a record to have especially for madrid
007 Phil Foden at the euros:7 games 0 goals 0 assists 007 at a tournament is insane 😭😭😭 pic.twitter.com/DipuAhSv2Y— Janty (@CFC_Janty) July 14, 2024
England was riding on luck. They should have gone out against Slovakia and Switzerland. Now, they will host the next European Championship. Three years earlier, England was playing at home for all of the games, except one. Germany, Netherlands and Spain also were set up to play at home for their group stage, but the route was set up in a way that they would lose their home field advantage in the elimination rounds. Germany and Spain did not win their groups respectively and ended up in the second-place route. Even if they took first-place and went through the "first-place" route, they would play in two different countries in the R16 and QF before heading to London for the "Final Four". At the same time, those countries did host games in the elimination rounds, but they were set up in a way that they would not be playing at home. Meanwhile, England played their R16 at home before heading to Rome for the QF. Something was not right about that. So in 2028, it would be England hosting it again. Since 1980 when the European Championship became a 6-team tournament, France is the only host country that won the tournament. Denmark in 1992 was playing in a Scandinavia country, but i don't know to analyze that. France in 2018 and Portugal in 2004 lost in their Final matches while being the host. Spain in 1964 and Italy in 1968 won the tournament as the host, but it was a "Final Four" format where one of the semifinalists hosting the tournament.
