From the S*n article. Guess Spain would rather pay the fine. Under-18s cannot work after 11pm on a Sunday so if the game is not over in normal time Spain would have to sub him, or face a fine of €30,000 (£25,000).
Spain are the team that beat Germany, France, Italy and Croatia. They play by far the most fluid and entertaining football in the tournament. England have had the easier run to the finals, but still couldn't reach there convincingly. They found a way to suffer and pull out the win even when things didn't look good for them. It's usually how Real Madrid wins against tougher opponents, but England did the same against easier opponents. On paper, England have the superior starting 11 and the better squad depth. But they also have the handicap of Gareth Southgate, who insists on playing Kane and Foden when they are clearly not working for what he is trying to do. Cole Palmer has deserved to start ahead of Foden, and Southgate has used him as a supersub. I think Spain are the favorites, and they should probably dismantle England if they get their gameplan incorrect. Personally, I would be happier if England wins because it would be the capstone on a brilliant season for Jude Bellingham. He would be the clearcut favorite for the Ballon d'Or and he would have brought the long awaiting English fans their first major football trophy. If Spain wins, I would be happy for Dani Carvajal, Nacho Fernandez and Joselu Mato. All veterans or key contributors to Real Madrid's success and making history. It should be a great final. May the best team win!
Game should be over in normal time imho. Spain are just too good. If by some chance it isn't, then it's not a hard decision. One of your best creative players on the field to win Euro 2024 or a small fine for a major football federation. Seems pretty obvious: First option please.
Spain are the odds favorites but i've seen Greece lift that trophy 20 years ago, so i won't pretend like England don't have a very serious chance.
Greece and more recently Portugal and Italy. It's football, anything can happen. That's why we watch and love this sport.
Today is a huge day for Gareth Southgate. Either he chokes yet again at the final hurdle, or he gets knighted.
Germany Green Party government official: "Would Yamal even last 10 minutes in the Bundesliga? We have completely different physical requirements compared to the Spanish League" I know when somebody doesn't understand or even watch that much football when he drops those excuses.
The comment was an answer to Effenberg's comment that the best 18 year old Germany has is signed to Dortmund and hasn't even had his debut in Germany. The league is very risk averse and still operates under the whole "you have to earn your stripes" motto. Spain took a very extreme youth approach mostly for financial reasons. Valencia could barely afford to do anything else, but on the other hand, Spain is a very competitive nation, which is why they are good at a variety of sports not just football. In fact in motorsports, this competition level has gone so far that the accidents in motorcycle racing have become extreme with most kids driving like with no fear risking it all for a chance to make it. Somebody mentioned Musiala as a German talent and it was pointed out that Musiala didn't develop in Germany, he came ready having gone through the youth teams in England. Kroos opposed the reform of youth football around "fun" very vehemently saying that if you don't feel defeat you don't work hard enough to prevent yourself from feeling this way.
Even though we will never hear the end of it and English folks will be annoying af about it but I hope England wins today.
Potentially the first major trophy since 66, we’ll be banging the drum for a good few weeks if we win it.
Right, I am heading out now to meet up with some people to watch this. The country is buzzing. Hope everyone enjoys the game, and good luck to anyone following either team.
I don't like both of these team, but i would prefer that England will win with Jude scoring the wining goal with some kind of a Screamer. Today is the day that Kane will his first title.
Same, I like this English team honestly, they didn't play very well but they are not an annoying bunch like in the past. Its the Bellingham effect
Yes, because he plays for us. If he'd be doing the open arm celebration for Barca we'd want Spain to walk over him and England today. I'm sometimes surprised how simple minded fans can be.

I mean, it’s a simple minded approach to a simple issue no? if you don’t have a dog in the fight, you find a reason to root for one of the teams. Could be that a player you like plays there; or in this case, one of their best players is one of our best players.
