Completely untrue. Winning a Europa is not silver lining lmao. Silverware is literally the goal.
And no benfica was great they's regularly draw matches with like 18 shots to 4 from the opponent and like 4 xg to 1

Considering the prices, even back then, not bad at all:

Modric 150 M minimum now considering Brighton sold Caicedo for 130 ME+ and Forest want 150 ME for Elliot Anderson. Benfica will look to sell Di Maria for Enzo, Felix level fees.

Ozil and Khedira were market opportunities with only one year left in their contract so probably won't cost crazy in this era from Bremen and Stuttgart. Coentrao will cost more than Carreras. Varane's club had got relegated so maybe will be sold for reasonable price even in this era given it was Ligue 1 club than PL.

Varane was a Zidane signing and he didn’t have a clue how to use Modric so left him in the bench most games. Pedro Leon, Sahin and Canales were basically money down the drain even if “cheap”.

Having Perez' respect is one of the main reasons I wanted Mourinho. I think we way we are moving in the transfer market demonstrates that.
Mourinho wants to win now and it feels like every player signed was his call.

We are going to be a very competitive team next year. 2 or 3 signings off from the squad being fully stacked.

Khedira as an assistant is a very random appointment.

Khedira is a company man type personality and will be loyal towards to Mou's coaching staff. A day after Pepe rumours came out, read a report that it's unlikely as Mou is looking for someone who won't grab the limelight.

Pepe and Mou fell out in 2013 when Pepe made a public comment criticizing Mou's treatment of Iker.

I remember reading that Pedro Leon was a Valdano signing.

Yeah. I don't see the club being so focused on these defensive signings without Mou.

One of the reasons why I liked this coaching appointment Sure, we could get a "better coach", but I doubt that better coach will have this much say in the signings.

I know but on the other hand he comes from a football family so maybe people around him know more than us.

If Sami somehow becomes the next Zidane coaching wise, everybody gonna lose their minds.

    Good luck!

Varane wasn't a Zidane signing. He was a Mou signing. Zidane "calling" or "scouting" Varane does not make him a Zidane signing.

Mou approved Varane signing. That's why Mou played him. Valdano signed Pedro Leon as a market opportunity at 10 ME despite Mou's reservations.

Pedro Leon had an ego as well and clashed with Mou. Canales was signed months before Mou took over. He was very young and injury prone with Ozil and Kaka ahead of him.

Actually and unfortunately, it's the opposite.

I must have been out to lunch but when in the world did he take a player like Kaka, Vini, Shevchenko, etc, or any other player as green as the grass on the field and turn them in to Balon d' Or and/or FIFA Best award winning players. Oh yeah never happened becuase he doesn't have that ability.

I remember him at Roma. I think it was a knockout CL game against us. The guy was torching Marcelo and Ramos all game but he couldn't finish a ham sandwich.

He really looked like a track runner up until he went to Liverpool. Egyptian Agbonlahor.
