Maybe he's just man enough for the job after two boys became doormats for a player that won't even commit to the club

Months ago, on this forum, many of us would say, heck just bring Jose back. It was a joke. Now here we are. I like and respect him but let me say this in the nicest way, he is past his best. If this is where we landed i think Carlo should have been given another year. I hope people realize his greatness now. Having said that................ This is like if you gave the guy who has a huge ego but has been pushed into irrelevance for years one last big shot. How would you think such a person would respond? I think Jose will be so desperate to win again, be in the spotlight again, be the special one again, that he will do whatever it takes to win. And that's a good thing. I don't know if this will work out but this is a short-term hail mary kinda thing. If it works it works, if it doesn't, Floro resigns and we start over with a new coach. I think Jose did a lot of good in his first stint but this is different time and it will need a different approach. He is a smart guy, all of us can agree on that, if he can find the right formula, the players we have here already, we can win. I am gonna try to be positive about this. And if all that happens is that we end up cleaning house 2 summers from now. So be it. A lot of real madrid fans need to have some of this entitlement smacked out of them, its not our god given right to win trophies every year.
Management sure does think it's Real Madrid's right to won trophies every year. Otherwise, Perez would have not fired so many coaches. I'm also in the camp that Jose would do everything he can to be on top again. He understands he has been given a rare second chance. I also think he might not be the tactical dinosaur everyone says he is. And he only will be here for the short term.
I think he is a better coach now than ever before. Furthermore, the game is becoming for the last 5 years more direct. Rewarding verticality and set pieces. There is no better time. If anything, Mourinho in 2026 is cutting edge.
Let's be real, Flo handed Xabi the checkbook despite not really having the track record to justify it. Mou practically burned the club to the ground his first time around yet he's getting welcomed back with the red carpet treatment and the company credit card as if it's the other way around he's the one who is owed an explanation and an apology. BUT CARLO, what did Carlo get for being a good guy that wins titles and never complains, nothing, zero, zilch, nada. Gets the club trying to smear him into quitting because Flo's desperate to announce he found a new toy to play with. AND for me this sets a very bad precedent one where what exactly is the incentive and motivation for Mou to do anything different. There is none if he acts out like a spoiled brat he gets rewarded but if he does what Carlo did then he gets canned.
If Mourinho practically burned the team to the ground the 1st time around which laid the foundation for those multiple UCL winning teams, sign me up for another one.
Being humble is one thing, becoming accepting or tolerant of mediocrity and being the "almost champion" team is not a place Real Madrid should be. Real Madrid is beloved BECAUSE of the incredibly high standards. Not in spite of it.
How come hes been ass for Roma, Fenerbahce, Tottenham, Benfica then? With the squads he had, he should have had better results. Every time I watched Mourinho teams in the last few years it seemed like they are not only boring but very poorly organized. Benfica might be the exception but he still won nothing due to his usual cowardly tactics biting him in the ass ultimately. Hopefully he can squeeze out something of this group but his signings and his general approach to the game these days, and his character mismatch with people like Mbappe and Vinicius, for me doesnt bode well.
It was 3rd season disaster at Roma. Won Conference League in first season. Got to spend only 7 M due to FFP limitations in 2nd summer and lost Europa League final on penalties. Got sacked midway through 3rd season after a poor results.
If nothing changes with the primadonas in this club ,he is facing the same fate as Xabi...sacked by the time the Supercup comes He is basically asking the same thing as Xabi, press, fight, be tacticaly solid ....will they listen I have my doubts
Mou at big clubs never had high pressing style so I don't expect RM to play the way his Benfica side did in CL games. He will probably go for mid block and counter attack like Ancelotti had. We will have way more defenders than what Carlo had in 2024-25.
So it would take one title to label him a success? I thought the aim here was a dynasty like with Carlo and Zidane. Its just buying time at best it seems. I know his Roma time very well and this is a highly positive spin, but ok. What about the other three? I would be thrilled if Mourinho experiences a rennaissance like Ancelotti, he deserves it. But its not like he didn't get enough chances already. Hes just so stubborn and stuck in his old ways.
Yea. It's a success if he wins one La Liga title. We are trophyless for two seasons in a row now just like in 2010.
Well then I will predict he will be a success because with the addition of Bernardo we have sorted our starting midfield and Mourinho is known to play for close results rather than style. We really aren't that far off even though things are getting magnified and exaggerated as if we are.
Thats the problem with stop gaps. He wins a title, everyones happy, he loses the plot in the second season, everything collapses and we have to begin the cycle again from a worse position than now. Thats why Im in favor of an actual project manager and willing to survive a trophyless first season and even a second one if we are competing until the end and playing good football. The trophies will come at a place like this.
Don't know if any RM coach survived trophyless full season under Bernabeu, but that hasn't happened in this century. Even at Barca, it's a crisis when they don't win for a season. Pep quit when he didn't win La Liga/CL in his 4th season and same for Enrique after his 3rd season.
Has he? Manchester United - 2nd place finish. Cup. Europa (with his best players injured and off the pitch - brilliant coaching in finals). Spurs - 1st place in the league by December and coached kane and aon to their best numbers. Spurs leading PL by december is ludicrous. Reached a cup final but was not allowed to play it to deflect the superleague fiasco. Roma - won their first european trophy and reached another europa final. Fenerbahce - nothing to show for it. Came 2nd in a league where Fener always comes 2nd. Benfica - undefeated in the league. Beat Real in 1st leg with far inferior team. If he had aemi competent attackers the league qouldve been won and they wouldve converted 3/4 chances in 1st leg. Great job at benfica he did if you followed. I dont think you watched benfica. They dominated teams - they just couldnt put the ball past the finish line. I genuiny think you have no idea what youre talking about in this regard. Im not a fan, but we can pull xg data if thats the sort of thing you care about.
Its context dependent. If your players are young and developing, if you played good football all season and lost the league on the last matchday, it shouldnt be an automatic sack. Making plans on a year to year basis doesnt create a long term successful identity. Unfortunately you cant predict that far. The fact that it happened once before isnt a guarantee that it will always happen. You dont always get lucky. Thats desperately trying to find a silver lining. I watched all of them and they were not good, Roma the most. They were awful despite the Mickey Mouse cups. Benfica too, who indeed were the best of them all, but so many times turned a win into draw because of Mourinho doing the same thing like in that Bayern 2012 semifinal match. He still hasnt learned that closing shop doesnt work when your team is not adept at it, it only backfires.
Wasn't a prediction, just pointing to an actual result of the past. I will say I find it ironic thst what you have done is make a prediction; just a negative one.. yet you never apply the logic you just used to disenfranchise it.
