Mourinho is a mercenary coach taking on a squad of mercenary players.

It's a super easy fit. He's a short term Fastfood solution.

People like to think this is the era of tactical brilliance but a total novice mopped the floor with the team of the best club coach in history with a squad that spends limitless cash.

This is still a children's game at the end of the day.

Yes I know your opinion is tactics, footballing philosophy, long term squad construction and identity building don't matter but that is just your opinion. And no Arbeloa didn't mop Guardiola, we rode our luck like crazy with Bernardo's red card, a player that never scored a hattrick in his career scored it from three chances, they hit the post like a million times etc.

Appointing Mourinho is an indicator of the unprofessional yolo way this club operates, and for a club of that size it really shouldnt. For all the whining you did all year about the process behind Xabi's appointment, you in particular being fine with this makes no sense.

My opinion is Mourinho forgot more about tactics than both I and you have ever known.

I've done the coaching courses and you know you don't know shit about football comparatively when experienced coaches discuss the game. They break down the board and you feel like it's a foreign language, then they flip it and just say "but if I had a slower player, his opponent just runs away and we lose, lol"

At the same time the secret is to keep it simple. If you need 3 hours of tape study to give a player directions that another coach led to the highest of heights in the sport, maybe the problem is you.

Postecoglu and Amorim were considered trailblazer coaches with an emphasis on a modern attacking wave of football and both completely unraveled at the top level. This is not a pony show, it's a results based business.

He was "The Special One" 20 years ago, and I bet he's still the kind of man who can put our crybaby Vini Jr. in his place. That is the difference between him and Xabi.
As I said, I'm optimistic in the short term. The problem is that after parting ways with Xabi, we don't have many viable options available right now, which is why we're paying for him.

What's the alternative - going back to the Galácticos 1.0 approach and hiring promising but unproven coaches, or complete unknowns?

Either way, we don't have someone in the pipeline like Guardiola or Enrique who could realistically be a long-term solution. And Klopp turned us down, as you know.

Yes, long term results. Amorim and Postecoglou didn't unravel, its just that it can't work 100 percent of the time and in any conditions and in a short time. You have to give it patience and the results will arrive. The Nottingham Forest experience for Ange was a travesty, and Amorim gets much less credit than what he deserves for his work at United.

I'd hate to see you make that bet because you will lose.

Vinicius is already off to a bad start with Mourinho with the Prestiani affair. Its just a matter of time until their egos clash. Tell me, what is it that is different from Xabi that Mourinho could tell Vinicius or how differently can he put it from Xabi to rein him in, and not actually cause the opposite effect?

And when not even top modern motivators like Enrique or Tuchel could reach Mbappe, how is Mourinho expected to do that? Mourinho couldn't even get to Delle Alli ffs:

I hope I'm wrong but everything tells me this is not going to go well.

RM won 2 league title in 11 years from 2008-2019. One was with Mou in 2011-12 and other with Zidane in 2016-17. 2019-24 we did better than Barca as they struggled in post Messi era, but now they have got a very good league coach again.

Mou should prioritize La Liga where RM doesn't show consistency despite having the quality to beat 17 teams more often than not. Him and Carlo were the coaches who took CDR seriously as well.

I don't think the modern player is likely to tolerate a heavy handed coach, screaming all day. In that situation they probably ask for a transfer. The irony is we had the perfect coach and instead of giving him the resources he needed to keep winning we thought we'd scrape jar of all the peanut butter and then kicked him out as if it was his fault. CA deserved better.

I love Xabi right from his days as RM player, but he let Vini's disrespect slide and tried to appease him more. Club also felt he was that kind of personality so convinced him not to punish Vini after Clasico drama.

See how Pep dealt with Ibra after he went out of line in 2009-10. Benching a player like that could have cost them in a tight title race, but Pep prioritized making a statement that basic discipline is needed.

The personality matters more than people think it does. Xavi knows Barca ball since he was a baby, he grew up with it in his milk, but he couldn't communicate it properly, or make the impactful changes in game that change the flow of the game.

You need to be a honking idiot to think everything is about fundamental knowledge of the game and personality and character doesn't matter.

I'm not a fan of Mourinho but I think he's so egoistic that he'd sacrifice his own blood to get results. Even if it's out of pride.

There is no coach that wouldn't sacrifice everything to win. You don't have to be egoistic for that, in fact that prevents you most of the time. I am a fan of Mourinho but as a historical figure, not as a manager in this day and age.

That summarizes our problem for 99 percent of the time.

Slott took it upon himself to go on vacation multiple times during the season. Got sacked.
Nagelsmann took a skiing trip during the season to cherish his new relationship. Got sacked.

As you see, no, that is not quite accurate.

The problem that caused this club to be where it is today by the way.

Your attitude that every single decision the club makes is a mistake is beyond ridiculous.

wanted to dig up my comments from over ten years ago, when he left us. I think I said: "He will be back." But since then, I've realized he's no longer the Special One. Still, I'm okay with his return. I have over a month to let it sink in.

First positive direction for this club in 2 years. Now let's see player recruitment and finally getting rid of deadweight. One positive aspect is Mourinho will probably not tolerate a squad of diminutive (stature) players that seemed to be what we were trending toward.

As a short term solution (max 2 seasons) Mourinho ok, but i'm more curious to know what's after...Flo not very patient guy.

Dele Alli = English Ben Arfa. Dude lost interest in football when he was 22-23. Mbappe has to improve his finishing imo. He struggled in first 4 months of 2024-25 and then caught fire and vice versa in 2025-26 after injury return. If he can put together a consistent offensive campaign in La Liga, doesn't matter if his pressing isn't upto the mark in a counter attacking system.

I can't help but think already reviving this should be dead moniker is a bad omen.

The thing people are mistakingly thinking that he "brings to the table" is what should be the concern and reason why the club says I'm sorry but you're not welcome at this table. He's just been so far out of the spotlight nobody noticed him anymore but back under scrutiny we will find him up to the same old antics.

Flo already knows this, easy come, easy go, Mou is just the next scapegoat and is so desperated to be linked with any talk of goat that he agreed to it. Go from Mbappe FC to Mou FC all smoke and mirrors until finally getting the 3 peat (3 trophyless seasons).

I think Mourinho almost has to fall on the side of Vinicius > Mbappe. At least in the beggining to smooth things over he will hopefully be gracious, however, in the end Vini is the younger player with higher physical conditioning level that can "do more work" out on the wing. And like you say, I don't see how the dictator is going to tolerate being dictated to.

I did watch the video, and when he says that consistency ithe difference in between having success vs. talented people who only have moments. Reminds of the complainst about Vini's consistency (RE:goal scoring) but the reality is Vini is pretty consistent about everything else he does the dribbling, trash talking, etc. Might not like him but the man's consistent and doesn't hide.
