We gave Jose Mourinho, a walking talking meme, the keys to a squad that is a complete mess on the pitch and off it. The guy who clashed with players who didnt have discipline and gave low effort, even when he was younger and could relate more to them, is now supposed to transform Vinicius and Mbappe into soldiers. What kind of a thinking process resulted with this decision I can't even fathom. Seriously might as well have brought back Del Bosque.
It still feels surreal that Mourinho is back. But it is what it is, so we'll have to deal with it. While I believe we have a fantastic selection of individuals, I believe we lack in several areas (e.g. quality but also depth in certain positions, compatibility of certain players, overall mentality, etc.). I therefore don't expect our team to present us with entertaining matches in Mourinho's first season, but - considering this is Mourinho - I do hope and expect a significant change in mentality. And that change in mentality is an important first step towards building a (hopfully) cohesive team. Wishing Mourinho nothing but the best with this lot.
I like the guy and hope he does well, but his abrasive nature is not a great fit for the club. The last stint he left the club in a flaming mess, divisions all over the place. Hopefully he has mellowed with time. Should have just kept Ancelotti and admitted he needed a better squad to manage.
2015 Chelsea was the last time when he build a good team ......imagine how fn long ago that was...Zidane hasnt even arrived at Madrid yet..... The believe is that the players will respect him......would they ?They will follow his instrucion and fight so to say on the pitch...would they ?Maybe 3 or 4 will but the rest.... He doesnt have the players to play Mou football....you need a striker like Benny Mccartney,Drogba,Diego Costa,Benzema,Milito,Etoo.....where is the striker ? Midfielders.....where are the Maniche/Deco..Alonso...Cesc..Cambiaso/Stankovic.....Essien/Lampard .....no midfield this can and probably will end very badly unless the right signings are made and these primadonas are put in their place fast
I don't think the style Mou had during his first stint and Carlo's counter attacking style from 2021-25 was much different. Ozil worked hard defensively probably against Barca only. Ron had offensive freedom in all the games. Mbappe and Vini in a system similar to 2024-25 with better starting CB than Asencio, better RB options than LV and a midfield upgrade on Ceballos should atleast compete for domestic titles. Hope Mou gets man management aspect right during first season.
I think he has been humbled to a degree through his stints at Roma, Fener, and Benfica. I'm hopeful for a similar career revival as when we scooped up Carlo from Everton. Sometimes all you need is the opportunity and resources
Yea. He knows this is his final opportunity to compete at top level. Would love to see him win La Liga in 2nd stint at RM.
One thing for sure. It's going to be very entertaining. Not the actual games, but everything around the games. Would be super interesting to see what formation he'll use and even more, how he will solve the vinnie/mbappe problem.

This is a win-win hire for everyone. People who support Perez/Mourinho, people who detract from them and want them to fail (and by extension want Real Madrid to fail). If this season works out and Jose brings discipline and a coherent playstyle to this team (even if it's extreme park the bus/haramball/counterattacking), it would be worth it as long as the team gets back to winning titles. If Jose fails miserably, then Florentino would have failed 3 years in a row and he will have to admit that he doesn't have a clue what to do about the managerial position, nor the Vini-Mbappe conundrum he created. He will be forced to either a) hand the reins to the next president because the socios will be out of goodwill or b) admit his failings and get some help. There is the third option where he digs in his heels, and insists on bringing in the next poor manager crazy enough to take this gig, but he will be out of top managers willing to take this poison pill and sacrifice their careers. Either way, everyone wins. Mourinho knows that this is his last dance at a top club. He certainly has been humbled, and I feel he will take this opportunity with both hands. He has every reason to want this to succeed. The only other top job he can take in the future is the Portuguese National team when CR7 retires. But his days at the pinnacle will be well and truly over. Am I the only one looking forward to the Jose-Vini drama? I can't wait to see these two egos clash. I hope he can convince Vini Jr to move on (or bench that crybaby). If Jose cannot straighten up this diva, nobody can. Jose's no pushoever. If Mbappe and Vini don't fall in line, They'll be riding the bench ASAP. He won't be the fall guy like Arbeloa. Most of us don't expect it to last. I think most Madridistas are sick of the nonsense behind the scenes and want an authoritarian coach to discipline these players and show them some consequences for their lack of proper attitude. If Mourinho leaves next year, let's hope he at least clears some of these parasites up.
Hasn't had any team play any decent football of note for a decade, nor has he won anything important in that time, (Conference league, Europa league, Carabao Cup?)i hope for the best and not Manure vibes, whether he's a disciplinarian or not we still need to win, although some on here have been demanding fantastic football from the last three coaches, win or not, so i imagine they'll demand that from him too?, or maybe not, let's see what he can do, at least it's a seasoned "name", good luck Mooo, if you get it to work that means the team wins and that's all i need..... I am optimistic as well. At least for short term success (2 years). I think that he still got it and having quality squad will show it as it happened with Carlo. Of course I would have preferred modern coach and what the management pulled with Xabi, Arbeloa and now throwing 15ME for Jose is braindead stupid. But somehow I believe that he can pull something out of this squad (1-2 la ligas).
I agree that he's pretty much a thing of the past footballistically but he's not supposed to turn anybody into a soldier, he's supposed to be a manager, not a reformer. He's so somebody that values domestic competition, and works from that daily grind mentality, Mourinho doesn't reinvent, or teach anybody anything, he will simply not use a player he doesn't find a way to build a relationship with. I feel like he'll be in Madrid for two years and win a title or two with the Cup being the most likely and the CL the least likely. Then again, I don't see too much wrong with it. Out of all the coaches, the only one that was a system/tactical coach and managed to succeed in a way so far is Fabregas. Even he might get knocked down a notch or two if he goes from Como to "a title is mandatory".
I don't understand how you guys can hold such cognitive dissonance in your heads. Especially knowing who Mourinho is for all this time. When has he ever shown that he is mature and humble? Florentino is basically giving him this job out of charity. Its almost like a nepotism at work. Unfortunately the third option is by far the most likely one. If you think these players will bow their heads and accept Mourinho's decisions because he was "the Special One" 20 years ago, you're in for a surprise. You are right when you say either Florentino supporters or Madrid haters win. But Madrid doesn't. Florentino will just bring some new random coach again and we will again hope for the best and try to convince ourselves things will magically work out somehow.
