Hey kids, worried about that possibility of being incinerated by a nuclear blast? Don't be alarmed, the DHS has some helpful advice on its new ready.gov website. Dear ready.gov, if I'm down the street from an exploding nuclear device, what should I do? Answer: http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn/content/article/2005/05/02/AR2005050201454.html Oy vey.
Hopefully the terrorist will be accomodating enough to let me know exactly how many megatons the war head is so I know the proper distance I need to go to get beyond the blast.
Anyone know if they will have a new updated song to go along with the duck and cover? Maybe something by a rap artist.

You and me both. Capitol Hill is "Ground Zero". Nit-pick time, this is from the O'Jays' "Back Stabbers". Credit where credit is due. Great song!
Well, if this is the beginning of 50's nostalgia/revival, maybe the 60's version will be along soon... In first grade -1957- we weren't taught to duck and cover; I never knew whether the program wasn't in place yet or they thought we were too young. By the end of second grade we were-- but a fair number of us already knew enough to know that they were at best teaching us how to die of radiation poisoning instead of shock wave or incineration...
Funnily enough, the US is at the moment like the major producer (or at least plans to be) of nuclear weapons...
