The third season of Doctor Who, the full season of which has already aired in the UK, begins with two new episodes tonight on the Sci Fi Channel. -G
Technically it's the Christmas Episode and the first episode from the latest series.... btw, Kylie Minogue will be the Doctors companion in the Christmas episode and, Catherine Tate from this past Christmas epsiode (the one airing tonight) will be his new companion next season.
According to my HD-DVR onscreen guide, the two episodes airing tonight are "The Runaway Bride" (1 1/2 hours) and "Smith and Jones" (1 hour). -G
As a twenty year American fan of Dr. Who and a huge fan of the new series, I was completely underwhelmed with the Christmas episode (though it did have a lot of funny moments) and the first episode of Season Three. However, Freema Ageyma (sp?) - Martha Jones, is butt hot. Wasn't she in the second to last episode of Season Two? Ya know, the episode at Torchwood? I think she is one of the computer workers who is texting back and forth with a co-worker and lures him to a back room (that eventually houses Cybermen). Anyway, she is money.
You are correct, sir. There was a line in last night's story where Martha said that was her cousin that never came back. Nice little in-joke for us! Also, did you catch the references in both stories to a fellow named Saxon? If you don't know what's coming later this season, just know that this year's story arc revolves around Saxon references - like the first two story arcs were Bad Wolf and then Torchwood.
i was reading that the doctor gets another assistant while martha actually ends up on the torchwood show for a few episodes. his new companion will be catherine tate, she was the woman in the wedding dress in that one off special prior to this series. the loud mouthed women. should be good.
No discussion on the Daleks trying to evolve? I can't wait for next week, so I got the entire 3rd season. Should be good.
Big news for the upcoming season. [result] Actress Billie Piper is to return to Doctor Who, the BBC has confirmed. She will star in three episodes of the sci-fi drama, reprising her role as the Doctor's companion, Rose Tyler. [/result] http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/entertainment/7114699.stm
\ Can't wait for the Titanic Christmas Invasion! Not too far off. Interesting that there will be 3 different Asst. this year. I saw that Martha will be off to Torchwood for a few. They also mentioned that in 2009 there will be 3 specials and the next season won't start again until 2010 - that is after Season 4, which will start in March.
The fourth season of Doctor Who kicked off last night on the Sci Fi Channel with the latest Christmas Episode (likely to be repeated throughout the week), with regular one-hour episode beginning next Friday. It's all the more fun now that Comcast carries Sci Fi Channel HD, no less. -G
Russell T. Davies' successor has been announced. A very good choice IMHO. http://www.gallifreyone.com/news.php#newsitemEkEEkAyuFuDUQWwpTO
Just caught "The Doctors Daughter" tonight on Sci-Fi channel. Not too bad. Interesting episode that is open ended for a return for the Time Gal. Other intersting notes: Georgia Moffett plays Jen, the Doctors Daughter. She is the real life daughter of the 5th Doctor Peter Davison. She is 23 yrs old and has a 6 yr old son and is about the most beautiful woman to ever play a part in the entire Doctor Who canon. Now, here's the really creepy part. She's actually dating David Tennant.
I thought I heard that a couple of years ago, David Tennant was dating the super hot chick who was the guest star in "The Girl in the Fireplace" from series 2. (looks it up -- Sophia Myles -- according to Wiki, they were dating from 2005 to 2007). So is David Tennant the luckiest goddamn guy on the planet, or what?
Just watched "Silence in the Library" last night. Wow. Can't wait for the second part next week. For what it's worth, I'm totally thrilled that Steven Moffat (the writer of this two-parter and the writer of the single best episode (Blink) of Doctor Who throughout the entire series history, including the old one) will be replacing Russell T. Davies as series Executive Producer. Moffat is f'ing brilliant.
I have watched the whole of the current season, and "Silence In The Library", is by far the best story. Cheers Steve36
So the rest of the season (in the U.S.) goes downhill from there? BTW, who is the actress who played Miss Evangelista in "Silence In The Library"? Wow... -G
