Wasn’t going to make a lick of difference . Not to mention , sayin “it seems like” isn’t exactly the bombshell we need .
LGBT+ were +37 Biden in 2020 and +73 Kamala in 2024. We absolutely did not have a hand in Trump 2.0. I would also say Washington state is exempt as well, given we were the only state in the entire country that did not move right in this election. As a gay college prof in Washington state, I would like to think I had a hand in keeping Washington sane.
Something not discussed too much yet Exactly this. It's really not an insight. Anyone paying half attention to politics the last decade could have said this. People wanted Trump. End of story.
Truth Social was one of his few opportunities to grift. With him being president-elect and soon to be president he will have a lot more opportunities and won't need Truth Social.
If you are a former President I'm guessing you basically have to go to Trump's inauguration. That's a gig I'd certainly would like to give a pass to. Carter is the only one that has a real out.
Something else that hasn't been discussed much yet and will impact Trump is that the US government finance position has deteriorated significantly since 2016. He won't have as much financial wiggle room to blow the budget doors wide open like he did last time - especially with interest rates higher than 2016. The markets could punish him/US government if he gets too cavalier triggering a potential crises. Deportation alone will cost them tens of thousands of dollars per single illegal they deport. If they try to slash taxes, deport even hundreds of thousands and add significant tariffs all in the first 12 months - watch out. Even with significant cuts to ACA and other entitlements - it could get messy real fast.
I would not want them to go. Trump didn't do the same in 2020 so he doesn't deserve that respect. I know it's taking the high road to show up, but they will look spineless IMO.
Blacks and LGBT Americans are going to be the most likely targets of Trump's policies. It's not a surprise that they're the only groups that voted bluer. I wish the rest of us weren't so willing to throw you guys under the bus.
It would probably be better for the country if they don't go because Trump would whine for weeks about how the Demoncrats don't respect him instead of doing something that's actually harmful.
There are many reasons why the Holocaust happened. Saving money by doing the final solution was one of them. Just saying.
And so it begins... This could probably be posted in half a dozen threads. CNN reporting that Elon joined Trump on his call from Zelensky to congratulate him on winning. Elon already helping conduct foreign affairs diplomacy. This is NOT normal. So many conflicts of interest here.
Eh, Trump himself did not go to Biden's inauguration if i remember correctly. I'd be perfectly comfortable with telling him to go pound sand.
People need to stop saying this. It's time to wrap your head around the fact that this now is normal. If you want to change what's normal, great. But this is normal for now.
Somehow, that phrase works when he says it. I don't think it would come across as well if it was said in a New England accent. Great phrase, though.
It's already started. I just posted the following in the Leopards thread: The campaign of fear has already started. Violence is right around the corner (and has, in fact, already started).
Then he definitely doesn't need it anymore. Besides with Elon running Twitter he doesn't need an alternative.
A very bad man, Greg I’m listening to Republican strategist Sarah Longwell on NPR talking about public opinion of Trump’s tyrannical posture and she just said:“When I ask voters in focus groups if they think Donald Trump is an authoritarian, the #1 response by far is, ‘what’s an authoritarian?’”— Zach W.
