I need someone to explain to me why DEI is a problem, but Trump appointing friends, family, donors, TV doctors and Fox News hosts to cabinet positions and ambassadorships isn't.
Christopher Wray says he'll step down instead of being fired by Trump even though he has 3 years left and was appointed by Trump. Anticipatory obedience indeed.
I don't blame the guy at all. He knows what a shitshow he's in for if he sticks around, so he's going to go retire to Kokomo or whatever and let someone else deal with the flying gibbon poop.
Yo VIP, let's kick it Kash, Kash baby Kash, Kash baby Alright stop, you blab and we listen Kash is back with a brand old invention Secretly grab a hold of your cell tightly Voices on a wiretap daily and nightly Will it ever stop? Yo, I don't know Turn off the lights, but our black van won't go
This is from early 2017 but seems current again I the Donald of the Divided States, to set a new norm of imperfect Union, abolish Justice, abjure domestic Tranquility, provide for the Kremlin defence, demote the general Welfare, and forfeit the Blessings of Liberty to ourselves and our Posterity, do disdain and disparage this Constitution for the United States of America.
I just read an article in the (failing) New York Times that claims this might actually be a 9D chess move, since resigning creates a vacancy that has to filled by someone who either has to be confirmed by the Senate or had at least some senior experience in the agency. Since Kash has neither of those Trump can't just put him in there on day 1. So now the Senate will be on the hook to vote to approve him as head of the FBI, can't hide behind a recess appointment.
Same reason why AA at colleges needs to be stopped but letting in Emerson Anderson Chesterfield III (his friends call him Trey) with his 2.0 GPA but legacy parents is just fine and dandy.
Funny watching how people are losing their shit over this tweet. I'm very much ready for the election to come and see him ejected. Shows that you shouldn't mix Coke and Meth.
The part which aggravates me here, especially, is the notion presented by sniveling weasels like JD Vance about people without children shouldn't get to vote because they are not invested in the future for these people. Yet, under no circumstances are the Vance MAGA acolytes at all interested in anything which actually affects the future of society, climate change, for instance. In fact, this "theory" is discredited and derided in favor of making money for themselves now. They are not particularly interested in the type of world they are really leaving for their children. It's an amazing con so many are willing to believe.
According to the US Constitution. lots more here: https://constitution.congress.gov/browse/essay/artI-S6-C2-1/ALDE_00013136/
The Trump administration is sure to follow the rules. They're known for it. From what I read, there's a law passed by Congress called the Vacancies Reform Act and I'll just stop there. If the President breaks the law, is Congress going to impeach him (or rather, will the Senate convict him if the House impeaches him)? No they will not. Will the Courts say "hey Mr. President you have to obey the law"? They already said the President has immunity, so no, they will not. Checks and balances don't exist any more.
I have to say, speaking as someone who lives 3,000 miles away, it is going to be interesting to see what happens. On the BTC youtube I posted the other day, the legal expert said that, effectively, the US supreme court has ruled the US constitution, unconstitutional. I didn't really follow his argument, (partly because I wasn't paying attention, tbf), but it will be interesting to see what happens with some of this stuff, although more in a 'popcorn-eating' way for those of us that don't live there. The way it seems to be shaping up atm reminds me of the old 'star chamber over here which ended after the long parliament... https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Star_Chamber I wonder if Trump will suffer a similar fate to King Charles.
Pete Hegseth decried out gay troops in US military as part of Marxist agenda Trump’s embattled secretary of defence nominee expresses contentious views on gay service members in latest book https://www.theguardian.com/us-news/2024/dec/12/pete-hegseth-military-comments?CMP=share_btn_url “Through don’t ask, don’t tell and women in the military and these standards, they’re going to inevitably start to erode standards because they want that one female special operator, that one female Green Beret, that one female Army Ranger, that one female Navy Seal, so they can put them on a recruiting poster and feel good about themselves – and [that] has nothing to do with national security,” he said. So the Dumbshit, Evil, Incompetent nominee is worried about DEI hires/enlistments. I wish his Deus would Vult him into the Oort Cloud.
