I will say there were a lot of Gabbard skeptics when the appointment was made. So it would not shock me if there is a falling out at some point, she's not exactly Ms. Popular around the West Wing or Capitol Hill.
I think the personality issue isn't important in this case - whatever else might be said of Gabbard she seems to be doing this part of the job the way it's traditionally been done. Instead, I think the main problem is that Trump trusts what world leaders say to him face-to-face and not what "experts" say. That may have served him in real estate, but it isn't good when you are leader of a nation.
That's a good point, although I think personality does matter. That if Trump likes you, he's more likely to listen to you. It seems like Rubio has threaded the needle pretty well in fact and is largely trusted by Trump.
"Our team of safety volunteers, who have been selected because of their military, first responder and other relevant de-escalation experience, believed that there was an imminent threat to the protesters and took action. The safety volunteer who responded to the individual and who was questioned by police is a military veteran." There seems to be some contradictory stuff going on there.
There are two issues with Gabbard: 1 - She doesn't have the traditional background one would expect for the head of the DNI (in other words, she doesn't have much/any intelligence experience). This was noted when she was nominated as she had not built up a prior network of contacts that she should trust in various countries. Not field spies, but those in the intelligence analysis field with whom she already had a trust and shorthand communication. 2 - It is widely accepted that she is a Russian plant of some degree. And some concern should exist about her in light of the MessageGate (or what ever it was called) where The Atlantic journalist was invited into a chat with many others using unsecured phones and an unsecured app. That Gabbard was on this chat raised all kinds of judgement questions. That said, what Gabbard is doing here and what she is doing in front of Congress is what you said - what a traditional DNI would do in that position.
In short, if the American working class wasn't separated (largely) among racial lines between the two parties, and instead were represented by a more traditional "labor" party, their influence in American politics would be stronger, and their interests would be better protected. However, various powerful interests in the country have done a good job of splitting the White working class off from the rest of the US working class, with obvious results. And, yes, racism had a big hand to play in that.
Ah, yes... The "Good Guy With a Gun" theory. Works every time. Well, almost. Maybe not almost but most. Well, some of the time.
Okay, now I get your point. But this downplays, somewhat, some of the historical aspect to the racism. One thing that sometimes gets lost in some of this is the historical racism of this country. There was a very concerted effort post Civil War to pit poor Whites against poor Blacks. This was to keep both groups down, but more so the Blacks. Carry on to the great migration part I and part II, and then the suppressed labor costs and anti-union labor laws in the South which allowed some manufacturing to be moved south. But manufacturing is not the only place where there are working class people. The service industry is horrible. Sure, a labor party might be beneficial for them, but remember the vote to federal raise the minimum wage? Every single Republican Senator voted against it. All of them. And remember the vote to overturn the ACA in Trump's first term? 43 of 52 Republicans voted to repeal (with not substantial replacement). And those are just things off the top of my head. You say that both parties are alike regarding support for the working class. But I don't think that is accurate. While the Dems could (and should) be better, Republicans are (and have been for a long time) actively working against the working class. Would a labor-focused party be better? Of course. But that is not at the expense of the Democrats and Republicans being the same. Because, regarding labor (the topic here), they are not the same.
First, what is a "military veteran?" IOW, who position this that person have the military? And why are they no longer in the military? Second, what kind of de-escalation training do they all have? Third, was there any background check on them? Fourth, did they have approval to carry guns? Fifth, was there any licensing/permit needed (and/or sought and/or approved) for armed "safety volunteers?" And I never subscribe to a "good guy with a gun." That means that somebody is still dead or injured, and it also makes an excuse to not deal with the systemic approval of violence in this country.
One Side refuses to do anything about mass shootings but thoughts/prayers, more mental health counselors and make schools into prisons.
He’s not daft at all, he just doesn’t think or feel in the way you think he should. He’s been very consistent on this for as long as I can remember, he just doesn’t give two shits what you or anybody else here thinks about him. Which is kind of impressive in its own way.
Hegseth, the nonse, has declared Greenland as part of the US Homeland. ‘US homeland' now includes Greenland after major shakeup by Pentagon. Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth has taken action to have Greenland declared part of the "U.S. homeland" to be defended by American forces, according to a report in Military Times. The Pentagon announced Tuesday that it was shifting responsibility for Greenland from U.S. European Command to U.S. Northern Command, with the Department of Defense framing "the revision as part of a broader review of its Unified Command Plan, which divides the world into separate military units and outlines the roles and responsibilities of U.S. combatant commands," Military Times reported. https://www.rawstory.com/trump-greenland-2672386531/
As far as I understand, that mean pedophile. No accusations, and certainly nothing proven. That's not acceptable.
So you can use that term for Matt Getz, but for Hegseth, he's only a drunkard, wino, or a boozer, which is better for National Security purposes.
Not necessarily. You can pull a Ralph Wiggum and lay down a banana in the fruit race, but then don't be upset when the country turns the way you didn't want.
Hegseth has been accused of sexual assault (and after looking it up, I've been reminded that he made a payout for it).
Think it was Mobland, or maybe Peaky Blinders, that taught me the English meaning of that word. Not on normal courtyard exercise Before then I thought it meant “the time being” as in “for the time being” or “for the nonce.”
Wow. Imaging 80,000 guys with guns and military training getting really fokked up, because their loved ones being threatened by ICE creeps.
Post 9/11, in a US environment where the military had been really harmed by the B Clinton downsizing and high level of experts moving to private industry, and then the launch of the Iraq War, Bush II instituted a program where undocumented could earn citizenship by serving (no convictions, no gang tattoos, etc). Not sure if that program is still going, but explains why there are a significant number.
https://tech.yahoo.com/phones/articles/trump-sons-phone-built-us-203025320.html Oh look. The Trump phone isn't American-made. https://www.thedailybeast.com/trump...phones-day-after-launching-his-own-telephone/ But since he doesn't believe in telephones, I'm sure it's gonna be as huge of a success as Trump Airlines, Trump Steaks or Trump Water.
Trump is basically Soulja Boy.. just selling foreign crap under his brand… That being said expect a Trump gaming console at some point too.. the Orange Box as it were
Now that you mention it, I’m surprised some 8th rate gaming company hasn’t tried to collaborate with Trump on Trump: The Game.
